I am a hobbiest with a load of rough and enough experience and technique to fill a thimble. I have enjoyed reading the various posts and now am re-invigorated to go back to my old faceting machine and try some more. My stone of preferance is sunstone with a nice schiller, especially since I have half a Kg of facet quality material. Next in preferance is natural light blue and white topaz.
I was searching to find some help in polishing the topaz with 8K, 50K and 100K diamond on a corel lap. I also have a well-used ceramic lap, but it''s a real pain to use. I guess I''ll have to bite the bullet and spring for a zinc lap.
Any insight and/or critique is welcomed.
