Hi PriceScope community,

I fell in love with the Hearts on Fire Transcend halo when i saw it in a store, however 9k is out of my price range. I want to build something similar for around 4k but will go to 5k if i have to.

This is what i have come up with, I'm pretty new to this so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

PS. I am located in Australia.

Hi I'm an Aussie too!!! First of all if you buy any SI2 stones you need to email and ask them are they 100% eye clean to a fussy eye. Secondly I am ambivalent to that setting. Someone like David Klass, IDJ or Grace at Jewels by Grace could make you a setting that I think will be better made than that one. HOF diamonds are a complete rip off in stores here.

To clarify how much do you want to spend each on the stone and on the halo?

We can probably help you make a nicer version, but if you want that exact version and you want to save $$$$s it's called US ebay, I'd use someone like David Atlas to value it (he is a US appraiser) as the middle man to check out and confirm any ebay purchases before they were sent to Australia;

Brand new ones;

http://www.ebay.com/itm/0-73-ct-Pla...842641?hash=item3adc1abb91:g:zLcAAOSwdGFYvZwb

You could make a lowish offer on these;

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HEARTS-ON-F...761004?hash=item35ecc773ec:g:p-AAAOSwyQtVjfHY

It's a smaller centre than you wanted but here is one in Australia and it's been buffed and polished already;

And another if you don't mind the airline gap;

Here is a preloved version of that specific Ritani halo if you made a low offer you might be able to buy a bigger centre stone as the setting needs a 1 carat minimum;

thank you arkieb1, I will look into those stores. Thanks

I'll look into those ebay options as well. Thanks for all the info! Never thought about buying on ebay.

Looking to spend 4-5K AUD

I think you have two options buy a new or preloved Hearts on Fire on Ebay or check out Gumtree as well and make sure you get anything checked/certified it's genuine or we can put together a nice diamond ring with an Ideal cut centre stone in a decent halo from US vendors for you.

I like the idea of putting one together, could you explain more when you say we? How does that work?

Pricescope is populated by diamond nerds - one of the favourite pastimes, alongside ogling people's beautiful jewellery, is to help people find gorgeous diamonds and rings whatever their budget.
If you post your budget, desired specs and the style of setting, posters here will help you find the best bang for your buck - which in Australia, like NZ where I am, is seldom locally!
I must admit looking at the HoF setting next to the Ritani one you've posted, the Ritani looks more delicate and refined so if you go that route, you'd be getting a more than acceptable alternative!
What does your future fiancée want? Has she expressed any preferences or does she have a Pinterest you could sneak a peek at? What is her job - does she want to be able to wear her rings at work?

Thanks foxinsox,

Budget 4-5K

Single band halo (cushion shape) with round cut diamond.

Partner wants to be suprised but she has always hinted at the halos with a sqaure look and diamonds on the band.

She works as PR manager. I'm assuming she would wear it to work. She works in an office so shouldnt be an issue.

I think this one is very promising if you're willing to put some work in.

First I'd message him see if this is still for sale. On the main website it may say "sold out" but in the app it says unsold- that plus the fact he doesn't have any sales in the last 6months makes me think it's still for sale.
Next ask him if he'll sell to Australia, of course. Then, ask for some additional photos of it. Mostly just to prove he in fact has the ring. Photos of the ring and the certificate. Also ask if he can we any inclusions with the naked eye. He doesn't seem the best at photos, but doesn't hurt to ask if he could get any closer up photos too.
Next I'd start the offer at 3000 usd

Thanks, Niel, I will look into. Not keen on that particular seller though. Only has a feedback of 1.

I'm aware. Usually rings like this are sold by men or women who's relationship ends and need to make money from the ring. They aren't pawn brokers or antique sellers with lots of sales. This is why I'd make sure he sends you picture of the cert and ring .

It's sold now, I wonder if OP bought it?

This was an old link hell have to contact him and see if he still has it. On the app it says "unsold" and he doesn't have any sales so I don't believe it's sold.

No i didn't buy it, but i contacted them :) Thanks for all your help so far.
