So I've been reviewing Hearts and Arrows charts...
I found one for a 54-57% table.

If I have a diamond that's 34.8/60.8 crown/pavilion angle but has a 59% table/60.5 Depth will that produce a decent H&A?
What about one that is 36/60.8 crown/pavilion angle but with a 56% Table and 62.1% Depth?

Seems to me both of these should produce H&A. Thoughts?

Hi,
Both diamonds could show H&A patterning. They may or may not show *perfect* H&A patterning, so if it is your goal to find a diamond that has absolutely perfect H&A patterns, you'll want to work with a vendor that sells a signature line that's been cut to those standards (note: what is considered perfect H&A varies from vendor to vendor!). Here is an article that will give you more information about H&A

Take-home message: Perfect Hearts and Arrows is not necessary for a nice-looking diamond. It is a sign of excellent optical symmetry, but not a guarantee that the diamond will look significantly nicer or better to your eyes than a diamond without perfect H&A. But if you do decide that you want to buy a diamond with perfect H&A, make sure you are paying for tip-top optical symmetry and that you can see that symmetry under an H&A viewer. http://www.goodoldgold.com/4Cs/Shape/RoundHeartsAndArrows/

As to the two diamonds you're considering, the proportions of the first diamond are close to what is termed a 60/60 style. These diamonds can show hearts and arrows, but they may be "modified" hearts and arrows. The arrows may be thinner, among other differences. But they can show H&A https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/60-60-proportioned-diamond

The proportions of the second diamond you are considering are consistent with what is termed a Tolkowsky ideal cut. Again, these can be cut to show perfect H&A, or the cutting may not be precise enough to show perfect H&A patterning. https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/tolkowsky-ideal-cut-diamond

Both of the diamonds you are considering may be beautiful diamonds in person. But to know for sure if they have perfect H&A patterns (or almost perfect H&A) you'll have to examine them under an H&A viewer. And you have to be able to view the bottom of the stone, unset, to see the hearts.

Are you using the HCA to narrow down the better GIA Excellent stones? That will be helpful. I had a perfect H&A stone and am now getting one that is excellent cut but does not have perfect hearts and arrows. But to my eyes, they look the same. You can't really see the tiny differences without those arrows and hearts images. So it does depend on whether your desire is to have the mental part of having the very best of the best, or can you have an ideal/excellent cut that looks the same to the eye but may not have the most perfect of cuts under special magnification.

I would use the HCA tool to make sure it's cut extremely well- to me that is more important.
