Ok - so many of you know that I'm in the market for an upgrade stone and have been trying to sell my ering posted in preloved PS jewels - don't have it posted anymore, but if anyone's been following along I was very persistent and here's why. I had found the PERFECT stone for me! It was GORGEOUS 1.28 J (with faint florescence) and an I1 I know I know, but the ONLY inclusion as COMPLETELY prongable!!! At first it was listed a smidge over our budget at just over 4k, so right before thanksgiving I put it on hold thinking my old ring would sell fast. Low behold it didn't and STILL HASN'T....even after a week of having it on hold, I realized it just wasn't going to be possible because I was having to reduce the price by over 1k! To my dismay, I noticed the price of the stone I had been drooling over all of a sudden drops down to our new budget!!! I was SO excited and felt like there was hope. We dropped my ring off yesterday to ship it to a vendor and I've been checking this stone sometimes twice a day to see if it was still there. Wasn't on the computer an hour today and it SOLD!!! ;( ;( ;( ;( ;( ;( ;( . My heart didn't hurt this bad when I dropped off my ring yesterday! Sorry for the dramatic post and title - I just have no where else to go that would understand my pain. DH has been very supportive, but I don't want to keep putting something like this on him. He agreed to the upgrade to help keep me motivated in school. But now I completely feel hopeless.

Who knows may be a blessing in disguise, may be your stone is better than the one you intended to buy and god loves you! who knows!

OP,

I am so sorry this has happened! However, now that you no longer have the pressure to sell your diamond quickly, that means you can just sell it at a price that you are comfortable with, and use that for your future diamond. New stones are cut and put on sale everyday, and I am sure that there will be another diamond meant for you someday!

Doc - that's why DH said...maybe it's a guy thing? But yes, God does love me, and I like to think He knows what's best...Patience isn't my strong point, so this is surely a test!

Alesixzoe - thank you. That is true - I do feel a bit more relaxed and I can do more research. Just a shock and a hard pill to swallow...

Oh I feel your heartbreak (and surely felt your anxiety as I read your story!).

There are still many fish in the sea....I am totally NOT a patient person either and I know how our diamond can somehow bring us strength and motivation through challenging tasks in life, but as nerve wracking as it can be, part of the fun is also the shopping! Now you can take your time, do more research for THE PERFECT STONE! Maybe a better one will come along ;)) I wish you the best of luck on the upgrade!!

I'm sorry to hear that the stone you had your eye on was purchased! Another opportunity will surely present itself. I've been distressed over lost opportunities before but, funnily, I don't even remember what they are now. Perhaps it won't be a good fit for its new owner and s/he will return it. You never know. In any case, this will be forgotten once you find another diamond that's right for you. :)

Bummer!!! So sorry to hear this!

Thanks fiona! I had some time to calm down, and I do feel better. There are plenty more options I know...But this stone was GIA certified and enough of a size difference that DH justified the change. Anyways, I currently have an EGL stone and I love it! Just wish it was bigger and the stone I lost was a hearts and arrows stone...so it would have been nice to graduate into the H&A stones. Thank you for your words, and for understanding my pain ::)

Mogster - You're right! I'm sure once I get my new stone I'll wonder how I could have wanted anything else. First time this has happened, but I will take your word for it  Thanks for your words and sympathy.

Oh no, I'm so sorry! - I understand this disappointed feeling, I've felt it and I vented on PS too, and it helped! I know it's small comfort right now, but you will find another stone, and one you'll love even more! There are lots of diamonds out there. And this way you have time to save up, since you had to sell your stone for less than you planned. Sounds like there was some stress surrounding this purchase, now you can relax and take your time researching to find a great stone, which you definitely will!

Thanks Rosebloom!

Junebug - haha, I'm thinking (since this is the first time) that it's really not that big a deal and I totally over reacted  What else is new lol! It's ok...there was a lot of stress with attempting to sell my ring on this forum and I'm just glad with the way things are turning out. I'm just waiting to see if the vendor likes it enough to buy it. I have to wait till tomorrow to find out... Really hoping they love it! Thanks for your kind words!

My motto is: There are always other diamonds.

I am a firm believer that things happen for reasons and good ones, your husband loves you to shell money out to upgrade your stone, the same way i did not want to settle for a 1 carat for my wife and i wanted a better upgrade for her even if she is ok with that because i love her so much.
What happened may prevented losing money on your gorgeous stone because you wanted to rush selling it at the same time prevented you from getting into a stone you may regret later. so god saved you from double loss.
Patience my dear. and your DH is an honest advisor listen to him :)
Like the old say:
Patience is bitter but the fruit is sweet.

UGH! That sucks! I know it is so heartbreaking --- you've hunted it down, researched the heck out of it, fallen in love... mentally worn it in your perfect setting... and then - POOF! its gone :angryfire: That is such a crappy feeling, I completely understand and have felt it myself when on the hunt for an OEC. HOWEVER.. and you've already heard it and know it... it just means a better diamond is out there. Fates will bring you the right one - don't fear - so maybe there was something just a little less than perfect with this one!

And next time - just be careful about lurkers. Sometimes I wonder if that's what happens... :?

Hang in there 04diamond!

This exact thing happened to me when we were looking for our hours. Looking for 5 months and then finally found one and its GONE! I got so mad with everyone saying "oh it just means a better one is out there"... i was like "no its not shut up Ill never find anything i wanna sulk :(( :(( :(( " haha

but of course we did find another one that was better with a better school district, all that jazz. So I know it doesnt seem like it, but another one is out there and probably better, even if it means you have to wait until after the buying season
hang in there!

Wow sounds like a great stone. Can I ask what site you found it on?

I was terrified this would happen to me and I spent all of last week nervous every time I refreshed the diamond's page, worrying that it wouldn't be there. It must suck to have your dream diamond go POOF! on you. :((

I'm so sorry you're upset right now, and I really hope that a new, better diamond shows up for you soon.

Doc - Thank you. I will be trying. And I'm sure your wife loves you more for it! It's nice to hear when a man wants to continue giving diamonds to his wife. It's encouraging. We've just passed our 4 years anniversary, but DH has always supported my love of diamonds.

Enerchi - you crack me up! I think what you pointed out was the hardest part. I looked for a while for a setting that would cover the inclusion, spent hours thinking how exactly it'd all work, the setting I found at BN and they have videos of their settings and I'd just watch and imagine the stone in there and of course the prongs being in between the arrows....list goes on lol! But thank you for your kind words as usual. I have been searching for something new, and I'll find it and I will be sure to let you know when I do!!!

5 MONTHS!!! Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry! It was only 2 weeks for me, I don't know what I would have done if I'd spent that long! I know it turned out great for you and your ring is just stunning if I havent said it enough! What's making me feel better (besides having such a support system from pricescope), is getting back out there and continuing the hunt. I find out tomorrow if this deal works out and hopefully it'll be good news.

mdmc - JamesAllen! It truly was an amazing stone, and it'll make someone very happy I'm sure. They have other great stones, but not within our current budget.

cygney - HAHA! Ok, so I'm not the only one that refreshes the page LOL!! I added the page as one of my favorites and would check it many times a day. Nerd I know...Thank you for your sweet words. I'm doing better and looking at other options is really helping. It'll work out I know

Dreamer - That's true. I'm just too overly dramatic to come to this conclusion immediately :loopy:

Nope!! You are not the only one at all! I was babysitting that rock for at least a week and refreshing the page at least once every half hour. I felt a little silly for doing so, but I'd never seen a diamond that seemed so right for me! I'm sure my boyfriend thinks I'm a little crazy for it... but my obsession with it got him to consider buying it! Success!

Good to know - as long as your strategy worked!! DH has put up with it for almost 9 years lol. He has his computer, gaming and IT nerdy type stuff, so he's fine with this for me.

Doc_1...you are a really sweet guy!

04...I, too, am really sorry, and I can relate completely to the patience thing! The very encouraging thing was that you saw a price drop, and that is good news for all who are looking for stones at this time! I hope you sell your ring soon so that you can find another stone you love!

Thanks DS! I was SOO encouraged to see it drop $1,000 which is why I kept lowering the price of mine. I suppose it is an encouraging things for others too. I'm a bit nervous, I find out tomorrow what the vendor wants to do with my ring, so I'm hoping soon too. Thank you for your kind words.
