Hi everyone!

Even passively viewing this site I have already learned so much but when I go to pull the trigger on something, I always hesitate and do more research. I am asking for everyone''s opinion on the perfect (if there''s such a thing) price to quality ratio on a heart shaped diamond in the .50 - .80 carat range.

I am pretty set on the following setting from Union Diamond (only place I could find that has it):

http://www.uniondiamond.com/jewelry/jewelry.php?action_type_id=35&large_picture=H_JEA1036.jpg&thumb_picture=H_JEA1036_th.jpg&context=rb&rb_flow_type=1&item_id=830&diamond_item_id=AB186646

But, I''m hesitant on buying the stone from them as I''ve heard mixed reviews. Can anyone point me in the right direction on a fair-priced heart shape diamond with the following minimums:

SI2
H color
.50 carat

Ideally, the stone would be $1750 or less and have the following specs:

SI1
F Color
.70 Carat
Very Good/Excellent symmetry and polish

My girlfriend absolutely loves the heart shape and could care less about the specs as long as it''s eye-clean and gives off a brilliant sparkle.

Thanks for all your input.

hi bryan :)

i did a search on bluenile.com for stones in your price range. i have a lovely heart diamond in the range you''re looking at and am very fond of heart cuts.

for a heart cut, i''m not as concerned about symmetry and polish, and personally i think it would be a shame to drop from .7ct - .8ct down to .5ct when all these stones were still in the ''very good cut'' category.

unless your fiancee is a collector and a diamond connaisseur, she''d probably think either of these was gorgeous and you''d be a hero. :)

personally, i''d go with the first one, as i like hearts wide and curvy, but this is personal taste.

good luck!
