Hey and Happy Friday..........Another long workday for a Friday. I didn't sleep well last night, and I just kind of got up and went to work early. I left the office after 6 PM and was the last to leave for sure. I did have a pretty decent day at work though, so that was good. Charlie had to work tonight, so no Sushi tonight. I was tired and couldn't figure out what I wanted for dinner and then it hit me. I wanted pizza and there's a pizza place near our Sbucks under the oak, and they have this great deal where you get two slices with two toppings and a drink for $5. So I scratched that itch and had a couple slices of mushroom/peperoni and a glass of water. I followed that up with a cup of decaf under the oak. Charlie's off tomorrow, so we'll have a regular Saturday, including a nice workout in the afternoon and we'll have our Friday night sushi on Saturday instead! I'm so looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning. I think I live for Saturday mornings and sleeping in. Sleeping late is such a treat!!

Your'e right Marcy. It really has been a long stressful week, for sure. I'm sorry the fried taco didn't sit well with you. I can't tolerate fried foods anymore either.

Hey Monnie.....it's always terrific to hear from you and to know you are doing well. Please stop by more often, would you??

dragon, I'm so sorry to hear piggy has an ear infection. I hope she gets better soon.......

Oh DeeJay, I'm sorry you had a wisdom tooth pulled today. I hope you're not in much pain. Take care friend.......

Enjoy your new camera Skippy. I hope you like the new James Bond movie. It didn't get the best review. I only casually read it, but I think the jist was they tried to turn him into a superhero and kind of messed with the brand. The effects are supposedly really good though. Charlie's not a Bond fan, so it's not likely we'll see it.

Glad to see you're feeling better Kimberly and even got in a couple of workouts this week.

I'll check in tomorrow later in the day. I hope everyone has a very nice Saturday.

Hi everyone!
35.gif
We woke up to about 6 inches of snow.It was really icy this morning then again after it froze tonight. It was at least pretty.
Monnie, I am delighted to see you post here.I wish we had a TJ here. There is a Whole Foods 50 miles away that we go to sometimes.
Dragonfly, I like the rainbow idea.Do you like your new hairdo?I get a perm in 2 weeks and I am so excited – I am hoping for no more barrettes. If I don’t eat my raw fruit or raw veggies I really miss them too. It’s great to know we start to crave things that are good for us.
Hi Lorelei!
35.gif

DeeJay, good luck with your wisdom teeth getting pulled.
Skippy, Canon’s are great cameras.I worked in a photo shop / photographer place for years.I am a Pentax fan but I really like Canon’s and Nikons.I want to go see the new James Bond movie too.Rats for getting heartburn.Marty used to get it really bad but now that he’s lost weight it doesn’t bother him as much.
Kimi, I remember you telling me you have naturally curly hair; since mine is very straight I envy that. What color is your hair?I had Ronald McDonald orange one time – it was awful. My hair is a strawberry blonde and I was putting Summer Blonde on it – then I started drying it out in the sun to lighten it.It turned it copper orange. So I put another box of Summer Blonde on it – BAD mistake. They had to bleach my hair to get rid of it.Since then I haven’t messed with color.
Rod, that is terrific you enjoyed some pizza for supper. We went out for a drink after work so we had some appetizers and split a dessert. It’s nice that greasy food doesn’t have the appeal for me it once had. I hope you get to sleep in for a change.
Take care and have a great weekend.
Marcy

I think the only positives I can cling to from this week are the positives I have made in my general outlook to life. The teacher I work with is so helpful oin that respect, as is one of the other Teaching Assistants I have become very friendly with since I started at the new job.

They really make me feel valued as a person and in return they have commented that I am becoming more confident with every day. It''s great to feel that way. I am less and less concerned with what people think of me the way I look right now. I am trying to let my personality do the talking.

That will be a big motivation for me.

In terms of eating habits this week, my food plan went right out of the window and I have eaten a lot of junk. I will make up my new food plan for next week this weekend and make sure I stay on track with it.

Thanks for the encouragement as always Lorelei! You star!

You are so welcome MM!

And remember, this is a learning process and so are experiences where we don''t eat as well as we might want to, we can view these things positively if possible as valuable experience to use so we can improve!

MM I am really proud of you for sticking with it!!!

MM, sorry to hear you had a hectic week.Stress and being busy doesn’t help us eat right.I find that planning my meals for the week on the weekends helps me be more in control of what I eat and also I got things out of the house that are too tempting for me.We used to have a lot of extra snacky food around and until I felt in control of myself they were simply not in the house.I love that you are feeling more confident every day – always focus on the positives. No worries about the past just focus on the present and work on your new lifestyle one day at a time.We are here for you and cheering you on.Have a great weekend!

Lorelei, you are so right that this is a learning process, after over 2 years I still learn new and often humbling lessons every day.

Hi Friends. Had a busy day starting at 7am; weighed in at Weight Watchers and lost 1 lb.
36.gif
Then I went shopping with my mom and sister and bought 3 super duper cute sweaters, some perfume, socks and sunglasses. heehe A sweet friend of mine gave me a 30% off friends and family discount to use at BR, Gap and Old Navy so my socks and sunglasses are from Banana. I am debating whether to keep the sunglasses since they aren't polarized. hmmm. Oh, and we met my whole family for pizza today at this gourmet thin crust scrumptious pizza place.
emotion-33.gif

Later this afternoon my neighbor came over with his new wife and invited us for dinner Friday for cheese fondue, eeek! I was excited for dinner but probably need to eat light that day. hehe Oh yeah, I almost forgot; I went for a 60 min walk tonight before it got dark and watched the sunset.
emhot.gif
Have a great evening and rest of the weekend all!!!!!!!

KIMI ~ Great job, getting some workouts in!! Rainbows are good; I need to join in! heehe

ROD ~ you and I both had pizza on the brain. hehe Ah, your evening relaxing and having pizza and sbucks sounds good! hehe

DeeJAY ~ how are the teef? Any pics when you get a chance?
3.gif

MARCY ~ eeek, burrrrrr!!!! I hope you are staying in and staying toasty. Hubby is probably getting a new SLR camera; I am debating whether i like this camera or not?

Skippy you sweet lady - I am so excited to hear you lost another pound. Woo hoo!
36.gif
The pizza sounds yummy. We grilled some burgers and had mashed potatoes and raw veggies for supper. It was quite yummy. Then we had some slow churned ice cream with a few M&M''s. I am glad you enjoyed the sunset. Did you notice Venus and Jupiter? They will be getting closer together between now and December 1st. I did stay home a lot today. We slept in, I fixed breakfast then did house work in my jammies, took a shower about noon, ran a few errands and have goofed off the rest of the day. That''s great that you got some new sweaters and sun glasses - discounts are the best too.

Have a great evening all of you healt seekers.

Happy Saturday all!

The wisdom tooth pulling was... interesting... Apparently I (a) metabolize anesthetic at a bizarrely fast rate and (b) my wisdom tooth had THREE roots on it so it turned into quite an ordeal. Oh well, it''s over, and let me just say I had two darvacet and one entire bottle of wine for dinner last night!!!

23.gif

Today I went to the gym but I did the absolute gentlest hour on the elliptical imaginable. I think I successfully keep my heart rate below 140 the entire time.

Not much else to report. Little food today, much wine, a few pills. Life is good... !

Skippy, is your new camera an SLR? We had both a point and shoot and a SLR. Sometimes it''s easier to use the point and shoot.

Hey.......

It was a really nice Saturday. First.......I did sleep in. I mean, I really really slept in. I think I went to bed at 11:30 right after the news and finally at 10:00 AM, charlie woke me and suggested I might want to get up. 10.5 hours sleep was mighty nice to be sure. It rained lightly this morning, but it was still warm enough to sit outside on the terrace. Charlie gave me a haircut, then we went to our favorite little deli for lunch, followed by coffee under the oak. Today was a transition day, weather-wise. As the day went by, the temperature began to fall. We hit the gym around 3 PM and by the time we left at nearly 6 PM, it was chilly. But, we were hungry, so we headed to favorite sushi place #1 in shorts and t-shirts. Dinner was wonderful as usual. The owner had created a new sushi roll that was really unique and she treated us to one to get our opinion. It was a combination of salmon, seaweed, mango, cream cheese, asparagus and lemon zest and it was terrific, so it will likely be a regular on the menu. It was too chilly to have coffee at sbucks, so we picked up two coffees and had them at home with Sakai, who is curled up on my shoulder as I type this. Charlie has to work tomorrow, so I'll either go to the gym, or go for a run. It depends on how chilly and windy it is tomorrow.

6 inches of snow Marcy???? Oh my.........Did you actually grill the burgers outside in the snow? My digital camera is SLR, and I really like the flexibility it affords, but do agree that a point and shoot can be easier at times.....

MM, I'm sure you weren't as bad as you thought you were. And now you can plan to be better this week coming up........

YAY for having lost another pound Skippy!!! Sounds like you had fun shopping and you had pizza too!! How nice of your neighbor to invite you to dinner. Cheese fondue? Too much cheese can really upset my tummy, so if you have any issues with too much cheese, you might want to be careful that day.

So sorry for your wisdom tooth complication DeeJay. I'm surprised they would let you get on the elliptical the day after, but I'm glad you're doing OK.

We're watching the news right now and the fires out in California are so frightening. I know Kimberly and Michelle are in San Diego. Mara is in San Jose. Is anyone in the LA area? If you are, please be safe.

That does it for this Saturday. Have a great Sunday everyone. I'll check in tomorrow night.

DeeJay, your wisdom tooth surgery sounds PAINFUL.I hope you are feeling better in no time.Having lots of wine sounds like a fun way to speed your recovery. Hugs to you girl.
Skippy, the SLR cameras have more features. My problem is when it’s something I don’t do very often I have to dig out my instruction manual. It does take great photos.I had a Pentax film SLR and all of those lenses work on the Pentax digital camera so it saved me some money not having to buy as many lenses for it.Too funny you thought of me because you went shopping.I certainly have become quite the frequent shopper.I had to chuckle about having a hard time working the VCR and DVD player.Marty always runs our DVD player so if he’s out of town I have to look up the instructions online just to watch a movie.
Rod, how wonderful for you to get such a nice, long night of sleep. It sounds like you had a wonderful day as well.Too cute that Sakai curls up on your shoulder while you are online.Yes, we did grill outside in the snow. Our grill is right out the back door and our back porch is covered.Marty was teasing me that I was being mean to him to make him go outside in the cold to cook supper.I agree the digital SLR’s are certainly more flexible. We enjoy ours too.I hope you don’t get too chilly tomorrow.
We just finished watching Casino Royale – I wanted to have it fresh in my memory to go see the new James Bond movie.
Laters,

Hi All!

Sundays are usually quieter around here, but I thought I''d check in. I''ve had parent conferences all week (and next), so I haven''t had time to pop in until now.

Kim -- how are you feeling? I''ve been thinking of you and I hope you feel better. The amoxicillin I''ve been taking has finally kicked in, and I feel better than I did last week. I did, however, go to bed yesterday at 4:00 for a nap and I wound up sleeping straight through the night. Oops.

Dragon -- I hope Blossom is doing well. Poor piggy.

Marcy -- snow already? I love the first snowfall, and I can''t wait to it this year. We''ve had a pretty mild fall here in northern New England, and I''m not sure if that means we''ll have a mild winter as well. I wouldn''t mind a few snowstorms here and there, and I''d LOVE a white Christmas.

Skippy -- congrats on the weight loss! Thin crust pizza is my favorite! I hope you had a good time.

Dee Jay -- I hope you feel better! I''ve heard that having wisdom teeth taken out isn''t a fun experience, to say the least. Wine always helps cure anything though.
3.gif

Rod -- I know that there a a few LA PSers around. I''ve seen the news converage too, and it looks scary. I''m hoping for the best and wishing them the best.

I''ve still been going to the gym and meeting with my trainer, but my last session ended yesterday. Normally I would automatically sign up for another 10 or 15 sessions, but since my husband lost his job, we need to be more careful with our money. I think it''s money well spent, but we''d have to put the charge on a CC -- not what I want to do right now. My trainer suggested that I try my program on my own for a while and see how it goes. He''ll be there most days anyway, so he can pop over and answer any questions as they come up. I''m hesitant to do that since I feel that I''m pushed more if I''m working with him. I''m not sure what to do.

I''m thinking of lowering my daily caloric intake to 1400-1500 instead of 1600. Hopefully that will help make the numbers go down a bit more.

Zoe, maybe you could aim for a weekly session with the trainer and work on it from home in between? That way you still see him regularly for him to put you right and keep you motivated but it might help cut costs - just a thought?

Lowering the cals could help also, and make sure you are getting enough lean protein.

Thanks Lorelei!

I''m a carb girl, but I do make sure to get enough lean protein in every day. Oooh, speaking of protein, maybe I''ll go out and buy some salmon for dinner tonight. Yum!

Zoe, yesterday I went to talk to the weight watcher lady; she has maintained her loss for 15 years (but still faces struggles) and I always find her advice quite helpful and your post is quite timely. In the past she suggested more protein but then we also talked about what I eat. She said try not to eat so many processed foods because many of them are high in sodium and that makes a person retain water. I didn't think I ate a lot of processed foods but then I realized I do eat some so I am going to focus on less processed foods and see if that helps because the past couple of weeks I was discourage on my small weight losses. Maybe just something to think about; it for sure got me thinking. You are doing great with getting some workouts in. Thanks for the kudos on my weight loss, friend.

Hubby and I are going to the movies today. I might just do a short walk since my sister and I are working out on Monday. Have a great day all

Thanks friends for all the weight loss kudos

ROD ~ I was thinking maybe I should bring a side dish even though she said no so that is out; that is a lot of cheese or maybe I can eat a vegtable soup at home so I don't overeat cheese and get sick. You know what that is what I will do that I will eat vegtable soup and something else so i don't go crazy w/the cheese, thanks, now you gave me a plan. Your evening sounds nice and a great workout!!!

DEEJAY ~ How are the teeth? maybe the dentist forgot to tell you not to workout
40.gif
eta: ops, I see you said you kept your heart rate lower.

MARCY and LORELEI, hope you are having a fab day

Happy Sunday kids!

I did a harder workout today on the hampster wheel, although maybe not *quite* as hard as I normally would. And I''m trying to stretch more at the end too.

Today my goal is to eat more. Or how ''bout just *something*?! I looked back on what I had yesterday and I''m not sure I even took in 500 cals. There was that wine though... so maybe I did...
3.gif

Tooth feels ok right now, but jaw was throbbing big time when I got up this morning. Even more so than yesterday. Is that odd? Oh well, a little pink pill and Dee is right as rain!

Gotta hop; open house starts in an hour and I still have wet hair!

Hi All!

I''m being lazy today.

Rod, the fires are scary (but not nearly as terrible as they were in L.A. last year).

Marcy, my hair is brown, but I highlight red and carmel.

We''re having burgers for dinner and just laying low. It''s hot and dry out.

For those with an interest in the sky:When the sun goes down tonight, step outside and look southwest. Venus and Jupiter are close together. The two brightest planets are rapidly converging on a spot in Sagittarius where they will form a rare double-conjunction with the Moon on Dec. 1st. It''s a good show; start watching now: Sky map can be found at http://spaceweather.com/images2008/16nov08/skymap_16nov08.gif?PHPSESSID=1jd5lru5vqgbo4dkrjv9h820a6

Hi everyone.
35.gif
Marty is cooking supper for us so I am working on school.I made a late BF for us today and ate some raw veggies and baked lays for lunch.I am pretty hungry. He is trying beef tortellini soup (a variety from his chicken one last week).
I guess I am not doing well with maintenance as I was up a few pounds this morning.I will be strict on my calories for a few days and hope those few pounds go AWAY!We did eat extra and weird food for a few days so I am sure some of it is water weight.
Zoe, we had parent teacher conferences here last week too.Several of my employees had to take off to go to them. The snow is mostly melted and it’s back up in the 50’s today. Our next storm is expected on Thursday.I agree that a White Christmas is wonderful. That is nice of your trainer offering to answer questions for you. Good luck with your new plan.I am with your on carbs.
Lorelei, I need to eat more protein and less carbs. We’ve been buying homemade bread from a new store that opened here so I feel like I’ve been eating more bread than normal.
Skippy, good point to avoid processed food. With my food allergies I try to stay away from them as much as possible but I know it helps. That is not surprising to hear someone who has kept weight off for 15 years still has to work at it.I will be anxious to hear what you think of the movie. We are going to see it some night this week.
DeeJay, I hope you were able to eat something today and I really hope the jaw throbbing goes away.

Kimi, you deserve a lazy day. Enjoy your burgers; they are one of my favorite meals.Your hair color and highlights sound pretty.I remember seeing a picture of you but didn’t recall your hair color too clearly.
Have a great evening!

We saw the James Bond Movie and I didn't have high expectations and it turned out to be fun and the actor is quite a babe and the locations were gorgeous. I ate popcorn and have the worst heartburn; I should of turned down hubbys offer to share his popcorn with me. I think I will have a nice crunchy big salad and bowl of raspberry's for dinner. Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the weekend!!!!

DEE, have fun at the open house!

KIMI, enjoy your relaxing day; I will keep you and all the CA people in my prayers re:the fire. Hugs! Enjoy your dinner, sounds yummy!

Marcy, I think you and I were posting at the same time so I missed you post. The movie was good; I read mixed reviews. I just wanted to get out and see a movie since it been awhile since I went to the theater, maybe 3 months. We don''t go too often so it was nice to see something and I thought it was fun! Your soup sounds yummy!!

DH and I went for a chilly walk this afternoon, but it was good to be outside and have some fresh air. I have a busy week coming up but I''m going to try to fit in time for workouts at lunch or a quick 30 min walk when i get home.

Just checking in. We''ve been so busy lately with the family stuff and continued plumbing issues. Nearly everyday JT and I walk (or more often I pull a wagon) down to the in-laws to bathe, laundry, etc. We had to walk because we were down to one car....again! But, we bought another junker that will hopefully last a while. It just sucks that since we''re paying on our giant paper weight, we can''t have a second dependable vehicle. It''ll be fine though. So, I''ve been getting a different workout than normal and that''s good, right?? The plumbing is supposed to be fixed this week. We''ve had such bad weather lately no one would come!! Hopefully after that issue is resolved, I''ll be posting more.

Oh, and trying to talk DH into decorating for Christmas this coming weekend. He''s not going for it yet so I''m trying to use the better weather as a negotiating point.
