A three-judge panel on the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit found that the statute Trump relied on to impose his most expansive tariffs did not actually grant him that authority.

Well, who knows what SCOTUS will do but I think the gist of the ruling is that tariffs are a tax, and only Congress has the power to levy taxes. If Congress had approved these first, no issue. But they didn't. And I gather court didn't see any "national emergency" to support them being leveled by the executive.
