Hi y'all,

I'm in the process of trading in a cushion cut diamond I previously purchased for a round brilliant stone. I currently have a round H/VS2 on hold at JA with the following specs:

Carat Weight: 1.57 carat, 7.55 - 7.58 x 4.5 mm
Triple Excellent
No fluorescence
Table: 60%
Depth: 59.5%
Crown: 33.5
Pavilion: 40.8
Girdle: Thin - Medium
Culet: None

The stone faces up larger than its carat weight and sparkles beautifully in the video. However, when I ran the specs through the HCA tool I was warned that "larger stones with low HCA scores may appear dark when viewed close up". The HCA of the aforementioned stone is 1.4. Is this a legitimate concern given that the diamond is only 1.5ish carats? Any other concerns with the specs I have listed? Thanks in advance!

Coco

PS I know the table is borderline for some folks on PS but I'm okay with 60%.

I don't think there is anything problematic with a 1.4 HCA. The cut is not an AGS Ideal and so there is a compromise to some extent, but not a huge compromise. GIA XXX will not be bad looking diamonds. Some may look a bit better than others. I suggest you judge with your eyes not by screening parameters. What you have here is virtually the mid-20th century 60-60 diamond rather then the most recent choice range for excellent cut diamonds.

Can you give us the link to the stone?

If everything is well done that combo can make a very nice 60\60 style diamond.

I appreciate everyone's input. I have included the hyperlink as per tyty's request!
