Carat Depth Table (C angle) (P angle) HCA Clarity Colour
1.25 61.1 58 35 40.9 2 VS1 F
1.13 61.9 56 35 40.8 1.6 VS2 D
1.08 61.1 55.5 33 40.9 0.7 VS2 F

Without any further information which of these is the best stone? assuming the cost is negligable.

I was mainly wondering if the HCA of 2 was a big no no when compared to the others, otherwise its a VS1 and bigger.

Help please:roll

Hi Vin and welcome!

The HCA is a rejection tool, basically all stones scoring <2 are considered worthy of further evaluation. This is done with images such as ASET/ Idealscope. advice from an expert with the stone in hand preferably and your own preference.

I'd want images especially for the first two to make sure there's no light leakage or minimal leakage from those angle proportion combos, but ideally for all three.

Are these online or from a jewellery store? Can you also post the rest of the info such as the polish and symmetry grades, star and lower girdle facet values, girdle thicknesses and diameter measurements too please?

online diamonds i'm looking at.
I don't have images or aset at the moment
All symmetry ratio is 1:1
polish is excellent on all 3
first is
MEASUREMENTS:
6.96 X 6.92 X 4.24
girdle = medium(faceted)
cullet= pointed
1.25 61.1 58 35 40.9 2 VS1 F
second is
MEASUREMENTS:
6.70 X 6.65 X 4.13
girdle = medium(faceted)
cullet= pointed
1.13 61.9 56 35 40.8 1.6 VS2 D
third is
MEASUREMENTS:
6.62 X 6.60 X 4.04
girdle = medium,faceted,
cullet= none
1.08 61.1 55.5 33 40.9 0.7 VS2 F

May I ask your budget/cost? Maybe we can offer a few with more information available and 'safer' angles.

These were lab diamonds , as my budget is only £5-6k

If the symmetry is really great (e.g. H&A's) I am comfortable to extend up to 2.5

those are some nice looking rocks :)

I don’t like a table of 58 myself so without much more info I could rule that out. I have a beautiful stone with a table at 57 and that kind of bugs me a little I prefer 56 or smaller If possible!

Wow Garry holloway. :shock:
''If the symmetry is really great (e.g. H&A's) I am comfortable to extend up to 2.5''
so if the symmetry is excellent I should not exclude a 2 on the HCA tool

Also is there a correlation between lower HCA scores and better looking diamonds once you have gone past your exclusion threshold of usually ''2 on HCA''. could I without better available data assume a HCA score of 0.8 is better than a 1.8 more often than not?
