Using the diamond search on this site why is there a n\a rank for HCA? Why is it not calculated?

Some cheaper lab reports (often ordered for cheaper diamonds) do not show the crown and pavilion angles, like the above "Diamond Dossier" from GIA.

Without all 4 numbers the HCA can not be calculated, so you just see n/a for not applicable.

The full reports show more data, like this one from AGS:

Thanks for replying so quickly Kenny.

I did the following search:

https://www.pricescope.com/diamonds...2=&sort=price-asc&page=1&pageview=24&adv=true

The first two james allen diamonds have GIA certificates with Crown and Pavillion Angles listed. But the HCA are N\A.

Is this a search glitch? Or are some HCA are not calculated for some reason?

It could be that when you click on the link to JA, only the depth and table are listed on the page (and perhaps that is all the info app can pull since the remainder of the info resides in an image?), and you actually have to pull up the report image itself to view the other angles you need. (1.4 on the HCA)

CA- 34.5
PA-40.8

The angles aren't shown on the search results; you have to find them on the certificates. The n/a probably means that the angles aren't being fed to Pricescope either. Stones that have a value are having their angles fed to the Pricescope database.

There are lots of n/a--keep in mind that almost all of these stones are virtual stones, stones not owned by the seller presenting them. The sellers can present the angles if the angles aren't in the database they are pulling from.

The issue is either at the vendor or at Pricescope.

I'd call the vendor and ask, and tell them to fix their bug as it is costing them sales. (the magic word)
It may be a bug or a process that needs to be improved at Pricescope.

Perhaps it will not be fixed because nobody wants to spend the money, or nobody cares.
But at least PS should be made aware.

I'll report this thread so admin can take a look.

The HCA can not be calculated for all diamonds as not all diamonds have all the data available to us from the data-feed that the vendors send us. There are many times they do not have the info themselves in a digital form.

We would hate to eliminate the diamonds just because all the info is not available at the time.

I am sure that if you talk to the vendors they will provide the info. You can then use the HCA tool located here:
https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca

Thanks Andrey.

Also, if PS's diamond search function leads you to a "N/A HCA" diamond listing click on the vendor button on the right and check its lab report.
If it is one of the better reports that has all 4 numbers Depth %, Table %, Crown and Pavilion angles, plug them into the HCA yourself.

IOW, you don't need to contact the vendor to find the HCA if all 4 numbers are on the report.
