HCA help

Hello folks!
I'm comparing two stones for a ring and would like to know which you think is better

One has HCA score of 1.7
light return-EX
Fire, scintillation, and spread-VG

other has HCA score of 1.5
light return and spread-VG
fire and scintillation EX

Your inputs are greatly appreciated!

We need more info. HCA isn't meant to be a selection tool, only an elimination tool.

As both scores are under 2 we can consider both but need more info/images. A lower score doesn't necessarily mean a better diamond once you are under 2.

Specs, price, dimensions/proportions, photos, ASET/idealscopes/H&A images. HCA is a very small number in the grand scheme.
Although <2 is a great start.

If you are posting diamond identifying information, make sure they are reserved first.

I've seen both of these in real life. Although they're not super ideal proportions, I am fine with that and both look beautiful to me. I just would appreciate some input on choosing one. Thank you!

Higher crown and smaller table on B should mean more fire although longer (80%) Lower Girdle Facets will mean more 'splintery' light return than the shorter (wider) 75% LGFs on A.

I think B should be interesting - the LGFs and crown/table combo should balance out in terms of fire, if I understand things correctly!

Skypie is absolutely right, both are well worth shortlisting but now images such as ASET or Idealscope are now required to see how well everything works together.

Thank you for your help. I currently have the B with me and it's beautiful but it IS a bit splintery like you said now that I'm looking at it. A is being shipped to me again. I'm honestly happy with both but wanted to know which everyone thinks would be a better purchase. Thanks again

But you are in the happy position of being able to compare two very well cut diamonds to see which appeals to you the most.

Take both out in as many different lighting conditions as you can and see which one appeals to you the most ' out in the wild.' Neither choice would be wrong, it's Pepsi versus Coke, a matter of taste.

Both diamonds have very similar proportions - I imagine it will be difficult to see any significant difference between the two in person....so just pick the one you like more!

Go back a couple more times and view them in different places in different lighting and at different times of the day. Then see if you notice any differences.
