Here's my diamond report: http://www.gia.edu/otmm_wcs_int/proxy-pdf/?ReportNumber=6157281280&url=https://myapps.gia.edu/ReportCheckPOC/pocservlet?ReportNumber=6157281280
I'm having difficulty wrapping my head around the peculiarities of how a stone could be a near perfect rating on HCA but only receive a cut grade of 'very good' through GIA.
The exact cut rating is overall very good, excellent polish, and very good symmetry.
I have seen other GIA graded diamonds with excellent polish and very good symmetry receive an excellent overall rating. Similarly, I have seen other GIA diamonds with very good polish and excellent symmetry receive excellent rating.
Why was mine given very good instead of excellent? I don't understand how other diamonds with the same cut parameter ratings receive a higher overall cut rating.
Also, I've looked at GOG videos comparing GIA excellent to GIA very good cuts and my diamond looks better than their example of very good. It's more in the middle of their excellent and very good examples. The fire is phenomenal and sparks to the edges of the diamond, it's bright and lively, and overall looks beautiful.
I took my diamond to a local jeweller and compared it against a GIA excellent and personally see little to no difference. Admittedly, I am not a professional jeweller, but I do have an eye for detail.
I really don't understand.
