I know that the HCA is not meant to be used with fancy shaped stones but I came a cross a cut-corner square brilliant stone that appeared to have excellent proportions, even compared to a round brilliant. Out of curiosity, I plugged the values into the HCA and was quite surprised by what I found.

First of all, here are the specs for the stone:
1.03 ctw
Table 55.1%
Crown 33.9 degrees or 12.6%
Pavilion 40.9 degrees or 40.4%
Total Depth - 60.0%
Girdle 1.9% - 2.8%
Culet 0.1
Flour none

Here are the results I got grom plugging the figures into the HCA:

Factor Grade
Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread or diameter for weight Excellent
Total Visual Performance 0.9 - Excellent - within TIC range

Can someone help me by explaining these results? Is this an improper use of the HCA? Are the results just an anomaly? Should I really be considering getting my hands on this stone?

Opinions would be much appreciated!
