Just wondering...1.24 ct with depth 61.6, table 56, cr 35,pav 40.8, girdle thin to med 3.0%. Why does this score 1.4 but looks smaller? It is a blue nile stone. The actual length and width are not used in the above calculation.

Why do you think it looks smaller? We need to know the measurements.

@headlight , sorry I wasn't clear. The hca result shows "looks smaller". I don't have the stone. Just plugged in the numbers.

Are you sure you didn't enter something incorrectly? It shouldn't look small at all.

This is a really good question! If it was a deeper stone (like mine happens to be) I would get it. This is puzzling! Even my stone that is 63% depth gets “avg” for HCA! Do you have the measurements?

I thought it seemed odd. Here are the stats. 56 table, 35 cr, 40.8 pav, 3.0 thin med girdle, 75 lgf, 61.6 depth. 6.91x6.94 x4.27 mm. On the ps listed stones that are from blue nile they don't list mm. Not sure if that plays into the score, it says optional.

Mystery solved!! :)

I just plugged the numbers in HCA. Got a 1.4 and size kicks back as big.

Not surprising. What I would expect given the proportions. However, a couple of things to note. I know the HCA says "optional" on entering the mm's but each time I've tried to NOT enter them, I get an error message saying they are invalid.

Second thing....size seems to have weird breaks sometimes. Not sure I always agree with it.

Should sparkle beautifully and look a good size for its carat weight. Confirm with an Ideal-scope, ASET scope or send to an appraiser.

FYI....make sure you thoroughly check that 35/40.8 combo. You're getting a little steep on both the crown & pavilion so if faceting isn't spot on, you end up with some leakage. From the ASET and IS images I've seen of various XXX stones with this combo it seems to be a 50/50 deal rather they are good or not.

For that reason I consider them more risky than other combos. Doesn't mean it's not worth taking a gamble if all the other stars align. But since ordering from BN, you wouldn't get advanced images. So you need your own ASET scope so you can test when it ships in.

Thanks @sledge . I found this stone through the ps search. The dimensions were already input to get the score. Not sure what went wrong. :)

I will make sure to check!!
