Having WF help me find a diamond

I was just wondering what the general experience has been in having an associate at WF help me find a diamond if I give them my specs and what I am looking for? Will the sales associate be able to tell me unbias about performance and visual aspects such as if/how the inclusions are effecting performance, if there's warmth in the diamond, or whatever? I mean, obviously they probably want to make a sale, so I am just wondering if I can rely on them to find me a really great diamond and to tell me unbiased if they think the diamond is a "showstopper." I have been looking at their ACA and ES on their website, but really, I don't even know how to compare these diamonds from one to the other by looking at the inclusions and the IS, ASET, etc. so I rather just have someone with more "expertise" help me. Thanks!

I can vouch that the people at WF that I've dealt with have been very professional and made my experience very positive. It was my first online diamond buying experience and my first real diamond purchase like this so I was pretty nervous. As to whether they will give you unbiased opinions, they have a very good reputation on here and they can set you up with one of their in house gemologists to examine the stone. The only way to know for sure is to have them look at a stone and see how you feel about the process. At the end of the day, of course they want to sell you a diamond, but I doubt they would risk the good reputation they've earned in the online diamond community over one sale. Just my opinion of course!

You can not go wrong with an ACA!

I also have had good experiences with several WF representatives... I do believe they want to sell diamonds but I also believe they want to sell you the right diamond *for you* - if they aren't honest with their evaluations and comparisons, it would come back to bite them as purchasers would be unhappy and not only would not be repeat customers but the negative word-of-mouth would get around.

The WF return policy is generous, as are their upgrade and buyback policies, so once you decide on a stone, if you have the time I'd recommend having them send you the loose stone before setting, just so you can lay your eyes on it and see it in different environments. In the end, even among ideal-cut stones, only your eyes matter.

thanks all for the reassurance.

i didn't realize WF could send me the stone before setting so I can take a look. Would I just send it back then to have it set, as I plan to get my setting from WF as well? Does this require additional costs such as insuring the stone while in transit, or is that all taken care of by WF?

To my knowledge WF will arrange a pick up from you and cover everything but you will need to pay the cost. They will then ship it back with the setting for free.

I am wondering if it is common practice and/or recommended to look at the diamond unmounted first when buying it online, and then have it sent back to get mounted? Do most of the people on here do this?? Thanks.

I trusted their judgement and the diamonds were magnificent.

I too, have had a wonderful experience with WF, sourcing the stones then producing a custom setting. Cannot recommend them highly enough.
Best of luck--

Would highly recommend WF as well. Their customer service was excellent and I never felt 'pushed' into anything. I made my first online diamond purchase with them and would definitely work with them again.

I did not end up purchasing a diamond from them, but since I live in Houston, I can tell you I have visited and called! Their customer service was great, and their diamonds were beautiful.
