Having second thoughts about my setting

Hi all,

I''ve had my engagement ring for three months now and found a couple things that bother me about the setting. I looked at other settings but, decided it just wasn''t a good idea financially to try and change the setting especially with an upcoming wedding.

How high the diamond sits has started bothering me. I would like to modify it so that the diamond sits lower. Has anyone ever done this before or have experience with this?

Also, I figured out too late that I like when the band tapers into the diamond. Would it be possible to modify the band so that it tapers in instead of the band just being the same width all the way around?

A good benchmen should be able to set your stone as low as possible. However, I think at this point they would
not be able to make it tapered. I would find a good benchmen in your area and ask what all he can do.
