You can type in an address into Google and it will show you a pic of that location, business or home.
We're not just talking bird's eye pics from planes/drones/satellites, but street-level pics from Google's camera trucks that drive around taking pics in any place that has some population.

I'd be a bit creeped out if someone did that to me and our house, but it's okay if I do it to others.

Yes, many times. I'll Zillow a property as well. It does not creep me out.

I've done it. Sometimes I google prior to a first visit so I don't get lost and sometimes I'm just nosey. On a 1 to 5 creepy scale, I think it's about a 2. Zillow has pics of the inside of my house from before I bought it.

Funny you say that.

I and my ex owned a house.
I did massive renovation on the land (several acres).
I google it from time to time to see how the trees are doing.

One time I googled the address a real estate listing came up with many pics of the house's interior. :errrr:
OMG, What a RUSH of emotions.

The furnishings indicated he lived there when the pics were take, but in one pic were two little dogs, so clearly my ex had a new partner; he hated dogs.

Anyway, what a bizzaare new world technology has brought us.

I didn't realize they'd made it that easy.

I just googled my address and the picture is my neighbor's house! I live one house left. So if someone looks up my address, they won't see my house.

No, what's your address?

Houses sometimes, usually when someone has invited us there or they call for computer service I will look it up so I can find it.

Businesses I use it all the time to see where they are located.

I'm surprised people have voted no. I thought everyone did this.

My county is extra creepy. All property records are online. So if you know someone's name OR address you can look it up and see everything about their house...including what they paid.

Oh wow...I just stalked my house. Must've been a picture from a couple summers ago b/c it showed JD's other pickup in the driveway. No way is our place 1500 sq ft tho.

Only did it once. Someone found out the address of the not so nice boss at work who thinks she is SO much better than everyone.

Of course I googled her address from my home computer not work computer. :saint:

Packrat - where does it tell you the square footage of your house? Was it on an old real estate listing?

My county is the same way. All records online.

Our home was very recently photographed for google maps (outside). There are things going on in both pictures that make it VERY easy for us to narrow it down to a specific small date range.

I do it a lot. I love houses. I google real estate listings for fun. I'm the class correspondant for my college class & have all the addresses for my year -- I'll admit to looking up more than a few, curious about where & how some old friends are living. Most of them have neat places; next I'll have to invite myself for a visit.

I'm going to wear my Speedos, carry a towel, and knock on some doors saying, "Hi, the pool in your backyard is FABOO! Can I take a dip?"

charleston1, it was on the realtor.com link when I googled my address.

I'm pretty nosy to begin with and the internet is helpful for being like this :)

I have a tendency to Google, zillow, and check property taxes and records through my county. Honestly I'm always just curious as taxes where we live are crazy and since I'm a renter I always want to know about the taxes. I dread the day I'll be paying them!

Yup, I am a master silent stalker and love the internet for this and other reasons. I love it when a house is for sale and I can see what the inside of it looks like too. My high school classmates have no idea what Snoopy Eyes is seeing of their lives. The most fun is seeing the pretty, snobby, in-crowd popular types turned into decrepit-looking messes at close to age 60. Gives me a warm feeling of Schadenfreude.

 No need to bring your own towel Kenny. We would happily provide you with one!

Yes, all the time.

I use it for DD's friends and boyfriends especially. If she is invited to a party, I like to see what the house looks like so I know how well to dress for the drop off. Small, cheap house, and it's shorts and T shirt. Big, fancy thing with 3 car garage on a golf course? Nice pants and blouse.

We have to see what our roof color looked like with the brick color when we had our roof replaced two years ago. I couldn't make my mind up to save my life on what color to do this time, so I did some googling of my own house, and a few around our neighborhood that this same roofer did and then photoshopped the shingles I was considering onto my own.

When I google my building, it actually shows me a building so far down the street that's it's actually across a street. The actual building is there of course, and the number is clearly visible. Street view shows my window clearly, and it must have been a sunny day because my curtains are blowing out the window. My building is on a corner though, and the address it associates with my side of the building is not the right street, nor is even that close to what the address would have been if the building had fronted to that street.

All my tax info is online, including a floor plan and the price I paid. So I'm not too distressed. But yes, when someone from far away gives me an address, I frequently Google to see where they are. It's all only slightly creepier than having a listed phone number.

This is so me, hahaha!

I sometimes google my students' addresses, just to see if they're really as posh as they claim.

Weirdly some of the more down to earth students are the ones from really affluent neighbourhoods and the ones who claim to be so very, very well off often come from lower income/middle income neighbourhoods.

I remember googling an international student who had an incredibly supercilious attitude. She constantly showed off about her dad being a director at an international company, her "mansion" back home, their beach homes (plural  ) and her "close friendships" with some of the celebrities from that country. Funnily enough, none of them were on her Facebook friends list and when I asked a supposedly mutual celebrity friend about her, he didn't know who the hell she was.

One year she was late to return to university and explained that it was because her father had had trouble transferring the money for her fees from an investment account in Europe... At this point I had to laugh because I knew for a fact that she was studying on a student loan!

This is in stark contrast with a former student who was a bona fide princess and came to our university because she wanted to blend in and be as normal as possible. This was of course blown the first time her parents visited her here - someone tipped off the local newspaper, who showed up with their cameras. She left at the end of last year without completing her degree because she couldn't handle the notoriety.

I miss her to bits and am planning a trip to her country to visit. Not saying at their palace, just the beach house. Yes, I've googled it and it is ENORMOUS! :D

All you crazy stalkers!!! :nono:

Just kidding! lol

Of course I've looked up houses before. I think everyone has (some just don't want to admit it  )

I did. And it did. It just amused me that my specific address showed the neighbor.

Property records in my entire state are public record. I think it's this way most places. As long as you have the address, you can find it all out!

I love taking the google man around neighborhoods where I know people and where I don't know a soul. It's like traveling for free. I figure everyone I know has already checked us out on Zillow.

all my patients put their address on our medical forms so i have occasionally. only if i was particularly interested for some reason

One day I was at the front window and the google map car drove right by taking pictures of my house. I snapped a phone picture of the snapping me. On another note, I have a sister I don't speak to and I heard she was being sued by her homeowners association for hoarding. I google her house and you can see her junk from space. Unreal.
