Thought for the day: when ordering and designing your ering, were you scared or worried that the ring will not turn out the way you want it to? I remember last month when I ordered the stone from Blue Nile, I was worried that the stone would be horrible. I thought I could just return the stone but it would be such a headache so I was worried. I obsessed over it for so long until it finally came in. I took a day off of work so I could wait by the door for the FedEx guy. He finally arrived at 11:40 am. I signed for the package, opened the box, and I literally could not breathe! The stone took my breath away! So now we get to the setting! Well, we had purchased my wedding set through Kay Jewelers so I figured I would get my setting through them. I designed my new setting, placed the order, and I was terrified that I would not like the setting! Again, I obsessed day and night over it! Worse, if I didn't like the setting, I was stuck with it since it was custom made but I had no pics or CAD or anything to go off of! Then, 3 weeks later, I get a call from Kay's that my set is done. I leave work, get to kay, see the set with the diamond mounted, and I was so overwhelmed! Wow!! I never in my wildest dreams did I think my ering would come out the way it did! So my question to you is: were you over or underwhelmed by your final ering?

No. You can’t just post a question like that without pictures of your ring!!:angryfire:

As to your original question: I was so overwhelmed with my new ring that I couldn’t sleep for a couple of days!! Lol. I couldn’t wait to wake up and see it in different lighting and locations! And I still feel the same rush when I see it.
As to being underwhelmed, I experienced that one time that I reset my stone in a solitaire and was so excited about stacking with it but found that my fingers are too short and that my old stone needed some assistance to bling it up. I’m fighting my curiosity about setting my new stone in a soli bc I’m dying to see how it would hold its own.

It’s just fantastic - talk about finger coverage! What a pretty wall of sparkle. :geek2:

It’s stunning. Don’t laugh, but when I got my engagement ring I took the next day off work and I literally sat there all day looking at it.:love:

I so wanted to do that!

Who would ever laugh? That’s a great idea! I got mine via a friend bringing it back from the States. We were away with the friend and some others for the weekend and once I got my ring, staring at it was pretty much all I did!
@BlingBlingLova your rings are totally photogenic! That’s a gorgeous set - I can see why you’re so delighted. The sparkle and coverage is fantastic!

Thank you! "That is too much diamonds said no one". That is my philosophy

Thank you Bron! Glad to know I'm not the only one who takes off of work for a diamond

Its a very lovely setting. I've been underwhelmed by my first ering. My grandmother was a jeweler and most of my immediate family helped in her business. My now DH wanted to buy me a ring on his own. I loved the sentiment, but it was totally not my style and impractical -- with a not very nice sapphire. To his credit, after "the moment" passed and I said "yes", he immediately said that I should feel free to replace the ring with something of my liking. I ended up not doing so (I was in grad-school) and my grandmother gifted me a gorgeous OEC. I think I've had more disappointments in colored stones than in diamonds. CS can be beastly to choose (I bought and returned half a dozen rubies when putting together a gift for my sister).

Beautiful rings. Thank you for sharing photos with us. Enjoy your lovely set!

Wowsers! Gorgeous

Last year, I ordered a ring from the US, (I’m in the UK). I saw the wax mould and the unpolished mount, but when I opened the box, I was blown away. It far exceeded my expectations, I was a bit worried it’d be too blingy for me, as it really wasn’t my usual style, but I love it

IMG_2259.JPG IMG_2261.JPG IMG_2263.JPG IMG_2266.JPG sorry! Please keep in mind, my rings are not photogenic plus the diamonds are due for my weekly US and steam cleaning

Very pretty ring. But I would never put those rings in an US. It will loosen the pave.

Yes there was a lot of back and forth regarding this matter in a previous thread. I posted this question (Is this overkill for diamonds) and I got a lot of different responses but the majority said to avoid the US for pave. I will use the Dawn and steamer only method from now on. Thank you for the advice

Very pretty set!

I have been underwhelmed...I ordered a 5 stone .8ish ring in platinum from a vendor we dont really recommend anymore. When I opened the
box, I did gasp a little but the more I looked at it, the more I didnt like the way the shank met up with the stones on the side. I really couldnt see "arrows" in
the stones...they were very sparkly but no arrows. I remember the first night I wore it (10th anniversary dinner) I remember telling my DH
the things I didnt like about it but that I would probably keep it.

The next day I came to my senses...why would I keep a $2k ring that I was "underwhelmed" with??? That was just idiotic! I actually found one at
a local jeweler that had stones with arrows and a nice shank. It was over the price that I paid for the one I ordered but the owner of the store gave
it to me for what I paid for the on-line ring. Back went the on-line ring...and I got the one from my local jeweler. So glad I didnt keep the on-line one!

Thank you! Yes that is one thing I have noticed is how you either really love or hate the ring over time. No in between!

Wow! So happy that you got that resolved and ended up with a ring that you like!

:appl:Beautiful rings!! If you can get them joined so they dont rub against each other - the stones will stay in longer ( less wear on the edges if they dont rub )
I can see why you were so happy !

Definitely OVERwhelmed!

I’ve experienced both. I was completely overwhelmed by my diamond...I still get lost staring at it . On the other hand, I have been disappointed/underwhelmed with settings. Once I see something that bothers me I just can’t get past it or learn to live with it. Believe me I’ve tried. I don’t trust my judgement with settings anymore since it seems I keep getting it wrong :eek2:.
