Hi all,

I am still busy looking for a cushion cut diamond in London.

Hatton Garden- If you have had good or bad experiences with the jewellers in Hatton Garden and you don't mind sharing your information, then please tell me about them as I don't want to spend the money and be disappointed.

Dr Indira- I have read about her work, but I would like to hear your experiences with her. I truly believe that she might be the best cushion cut "dealer", but I find her prices higher than in Hatton Garden. Please share your experiences.

Thank you

Hi Maisie,

Thank you for your comment and the thread. Your ring is absolutely stunning. I am sure you still admire it every morning, I would for sure.
Indira's website is pretty impressive, what makes me doubt is that the prices of diamonds seem to be higher though. I know they say that they only offer the best diamonds and hence the price. I am wondering whether I will book an appointment with her. What scares me is the fact that she will order the diamonds in and then you have a chance to look at them and if you do like the diamond you need to purchase it as otherwise the diamonds will be sent back the same day. Both of us are not very good at making a quick decision when it comes to spending such a big amount of money. We normally need some time, but I think I will get in touch with her next week and see what her advice is.

Sorry, can't help with London.... have you seen this one: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/10908/

Hi JulieN,

Thank you for the link. It is a beautiful stone, but my partner is reluctant to go below F colour as so far we have seen D,E ,F and G and we tend to prefer D and E colour. I know we could get a diamond much cheaper if ordered it from US, but the shipping and also the tax issue seems a bit daunting to us. Also when I look at the diamonds online they all look great to me as I am not an expert and have been looking diamonds for a few weeks only, so I would not know the difference whether it is a great diamond or not. For two years we were just looking for diamond rings to establish which shape/style suits my finger. I only discovered cushion shape stone about 3 months ago when I saw gorgeous pictures on PS. So now we have started to look loose diamonds and the only thing I can notice is the colour. Also, I seem to have a very good eye for noticing the inclusions with naked eye. The jeweller told me it is impossible, but if I can see something then surely there is something. :D. I actually saw an inclusion with a naked eye in VVS2 diamond and he said it is impossible. This diamond search is starting to be a stressful issue for us both.

When you say the prices are higher what are you comparing them with? Other diamonds in Hatton Garden or with diamonds from the US? We have to pay VAT and import duty on any diamonds we import from the US. I believe its 22% at the minute. That means they look cheaper when you see them online, but the price is higher once you import them.

I didn't pay import duty on my diamond as it came from Antwerp. It was also set into the ring there. I did pay VAT though. Thats the law

If you are comparing Indira's diamonds with diamonds from other shops in HG then you have to be sure you are comparing apples with apples. Make sure they are the same high quality.

If you visit Indira and look at diamonds i'm sure she will give you a couple of days to make a decision. You might find you fall in love with one on the day and aren't worried about making a decision straight away.
