Has anyone repaired a middle-eastern carpet?

Doberman, your rug is beautiful! I second (third, etc.) what people have said about a good oriental rug store being able to give you a quote for repairs. But please, read the reviews! I have a slew of rugs, including a few silks, and also two gorgeous saphs (prayer rugs), and there is only one place in town (Chicago) I would take them to for cleaning or repair. I've also had them sew a canvas rod pocket on the back of one of the saphs to hang above my bed. Their prices are... well... exorbitant, but when having work done on something irreplaceable (to me) it is worth it. I picked up a beautiful 5 x 7 silk at a garage sale one time for $250. I could have probably gotten him done farther, but when he opened with $250 I whipped out my cash so fast there were flames shooting out of my purse and I loaded that baby into my car and drove away before anyone else had the chance to see it. It then cost me $700 to have the rug cleaned, LOL. And now that it resides in my kitchen (what moron puts a silk rug in the kitchen... ? But it looks great there and I am of the opinion that rugs are meant to be used) and I'm sure it will be visiting the cleaners again in the not-too-distant future.

Gosh you can't post that and then NOT post a picture!!! :lol-2:

Please? :oops2:

Also generally not sure how I ended up on this post but I've really enjoyed spending the last few minutes reading about rugs! :mrgreen2: Thanks everyone! :kiss2:

What gorgeous rugs everyone has! My parents have a divine black/pink/cream one similar - it’s wool/silk blend I think. I helped them pick it out and secretly I’m hoping to inherit it too....
