Has anyone out there applied for a Fulbright or Teach for America?

I''m applying to both of these very soon (Fulbright on 10/19 and TFA in August)

Does anyone have advice/tips/experience with either? I''d love to hear anything you have to share, even if its not a personal experience!

I know tons of people who have gone through TFA, and none of them had any problems getting in. Don't sweat it!

I''ve spent the whole summer sorting things out and trying to decide what I want to do after college...and while the words

after college

still strike fear into my heart, I am trying to keep it positive and make sure that I have plans after I graduate possibly even options. I have a friend that did TFA too and really enjoyed it...its just stressful because the Fulbright and TFA are both so competitive!

How long is the interview process for TFA? And do you think they''d give preference to placing somebody in a region if they already live there?

Sorry, I''m thinking this could be good for BF, and I couldn''t find answers on the website, so I''m hoping one of you ladies who knows somebody who has done it would know.

I applied to TFA, but ultimately decided to go to graduate school for education instead after hearing some negative experiences. I don''t remember very well at this point, but at some point after submitting my application there was a group interview/practice teaching session (I had to design and teach a lesson on any topic, and my ''students'' were other TFA applicants). Not sure what happened after that -- but the whole process didn''t take long. I believe they do like people who are willing to go to more rural areas. Or at least, that was the situation a million years ago when I was interested in the program!

I think it might take at least a couple of months. The first round of apps are due early in August, so its definitely worth applying early to see if you get an answer back sooner.
