Has anyone had a plastic surgeon fix their stretched earlobes?

I’m sure this is going to be weird and gross to a lot of people... In my younger days I stretched my ears. I’d like to get them fixed so I can wear earrings again but when I went to the plastic surgeon they said they do the procedure while you’re awake. I chickened out and haven’t been back... my pain tolerance is pretty decent I like to think and my ears weren’t stretched very large.

Has anyone done this? Can you tell me what it was like and how long it took to be able to pierce your ears? Was it worth it?

I had a friend that had this done. I don't think it was a big deal. However, my suggestion would be to seek several opinions before doing any type of surgery.

Did they ever wear earrings after? How was healing?

I only recall wearing earrings for a short time before stretching my ears and they always hurt. I’d hate to do that and never wear earrings after. My ears were small enough that they don’t look strange unless you’re way too close to me. Especially since I have longish hair that’s always down.

I just watched some interesting Youtube videos on this procedure. It's amazing how plastic surgeons can fix this.

I had one of mine fixed years ago. I follow some people on IG who recently had it done. If your holes are bothering you, I’d 100% recommend doing it.

They numb your ear so you don’t feel anything. It was not a big deal to have it done. I can’t remember how long before re-pierced it since it’s been so long ago. I want to say maybe 8 weeks???

That’s good to hear! I’m definitely considering it but when they told me that they’d cut the inside of my ears and sew them shut while I was awake and I panicked. But the healing time seems really reasonable! I’m definitely get it done.

I know it sounds gruesome, but the motor skills they use to do the procedure is about the same as a jeweler setting a stone- tiny, calculated movements. Minimal blood. As far as procedures go, it’s very minor

it hurting at all. Seems like it took them about 20 minutes and it was done. Easy peasy! I had to wait 6 months before having re-pierced again.
I can only wear drop earrings (hoops, shepherds hooks etc). My ears are just too wimpy to hold up solitaires and the like,

I would definitely recommend having it done. You can ask if the doc would be willing to give you something for your nerves (to take before you
get there to keep from chickening out). You'll need a driver though if they are willing to give you something...just a thought.

Edit BTW I believe my Doc used a laser to do the cutting which keeps the bleeding. When he was done, everything was very neat and clean.

That’s a good idea actually! I’ve been talking about this for ages so my husband is ready for me to finally do it. I’m sure he’ll take off from work to take me if need be. Thanks for sharing!

I would like to do this out of vanity reasons I suppose. I just feel like my holes look droopy. I don't think I have time to do it before my daughter's wedding in September. I should have done it this year! Hoops hang sideways on me, and studs seem too low on my ear. I've had the holes for 43 years.

I saw Dr Pimple Popper do this on one of her shows. The scars were really unnoticeable, I think the patient had a follow up appt about a month after the procedure and it looked great.

My daughter-in-law has to get one ear lobe fixed. It tore from wearing dangles. She said it didn’t hurt when they were doing it. After the procedure I think she just took Tylenol but said it wasn’t bad at all.

It all sounds reasonable, but then I was looking at all the other treatments, and suddenly I feel awful about myself. I'm not even sure I'm a good candidate for this if my main problem is simply the placement and angle of my original piercings. Is that enough of a reason to do this? Ideally, I want the piercing up slightly from where it is, and of course a professional piercer will get the angle and placement right. I just wonder if it'll be in the middle of scar tissue. Can you wear any style earrings you want afterward?

@lyra the new piercing cannot be on the scar tissue. My new hole is right next to the scar.

Like you I would love to repierce as my piercings are unequal but I tend to keloid and get scarring everywhere so not worth it to me. Unless a lobe tears and then it will be a different story. But just to relocate my piercings I cannot justify due to the risk (for me).

I don't think I'll do it. I'd rather put that money toward something else that I could actually see to appreciate. My hair covers my ears. I'm the only one who notices anything. I can't risk infection anywhere in my body because I'm immune suppressed. I was just extra aware because I'll be in wedding pics, but no one will notice what earrings I'm wearing.

@lyra Try using plastic disks you can buy on Amazon. I have 3.04ctw studs that would tip forward in my earlobes. I put the stud in..then the plastic disk..and then my guardian back. It keeps my studs straight on my ear. If you want me to take a pic of them on my earrings or find them on Amazon for you let me know. I think I buy the package of - hundred..but I drop them and have to get a new one...They’re very cheap too. I love them. I think you may even be able to use them with a hoop earring to keep your earlobe straight. It’s worth a try..

I had both my ears done about 10 years ago....I had to have a growth removed from my eyelid and when I was at the plastic surgeon I asked about it as my ears as they were stretched out from wearing heavy earrings. It was painless. Both procedures (the growth on my eye lid as well as my lobes) were done at the same time with just a little numbing. If I remember correctly he re-pierced my ears at the same time with thread. When I went to have the stitches out he put the earrings in and I was good to go. It was easy and I am glad I did it.
