Has anyone ever been underwhelmed by a recut?

I am 80 percent sure that I am moving forward with a recut for my diamond. I have read through as many threads as I’ve Found here. But am wondering if anyone here has actually gotten a recut and not really seen a striking difference or worse yet, if your stone care back looking just different but not better. lol. I know it’s a lot to ask for. I think I’m getting cold feet and last night I just started thinking, what if it comes back worse! Is that even possible? I suppose all things are possible when we speculate. That’s why I ask the question.
