So I have seen a few pair of antique gold cufflinks that I think would make pretty earrings. Has anyone ever done a conversion like that? I know they could be turned into pendants, but I wouldn't need two of the same. Just wondering if it is an expensive process. Thanks.

i am very interested on cuff link conversions,
no earring ideas though so i cant wait to see what we might get posted on your thread
i have dad's ss onyx cufflinks, one day i will get a ss bracelet made

i dont see why it would be exspenisve apart from the cost of the new gold componants

I don't own them yet, I've got a few that I've seen but not purchased because I am not sure about the conversion.

I kind of like these, as an example. But they aren't exactly what I would actually buy.

I have. David Klass did it. I found it reasonable, especially because you get some gold value back on what you do not need. Send him photos and let him know what kind of back you want. He should be able to do an estimate by photos.

Thank you. That's the kind of information I've been looking for. Can I assume you are happy with the result? Not questioning David's capability, more whether they turned out the way you expected as far as weight on the ear, size, etc.

Yes, I am very happy! He did a good job. Some cufflinks are more suited to drops that may need a top stone versus a stud, or using a French wire. One thing to think about us the weight distribution of the link, because it was intended for a different use. That will probably inform what back you would want. I have done Omega backs a few times and prefer that for anything with a weight of a certain range. He can help with that too if you are unsure.

I think you have to be mindful of the weight of the links for sure and your own comfort level for typical earrings. Definitely check the gram weight!

Thank you. I'd definitely want them on a post as studs, not as drops. So I guess I have to figure out what weight will work for me. Size is easy to figure out, but I don't have any heavy earrings, so not sure what my tolerance will be.

We need some pictures
Its a wet miserable day here and I still feel blick after covid
Pictures might just make the sun come out

an update from Thursday morning
no pictures, no sun ......
thankfully the worst of it is going around us but the rest of the entire country seems to have a storm with airports closed and ferries not sailing

i just love the cufflink idea, i mean its not just repurposing, its also a way for some of us to wear a reminder of our dads
