Has anyone converted a ring to a pendant?

Found an unusual 1950s ring that I thought would be a great pendant. It's a good size and a great price...But wondering how it would sit on my neck....and I currently don't live in a place with a plethora of custom jewelers.

Thoughts?

Yeh, I think its a cool ring but trying to change into a pendant? I dont see how. I dont think it would lay nicely.

The only thought I had was cutting off the band portion then inserting a 'spine' behind the setting to make the curvature sit up/off my chest a bit. But I'd welcome some other ideas here

Attach to a medallion. Like your idea with the spine, except the medallion would be wider so less likely to flip. I have not done so before but may do this to a pendant I already have.

I'd do a brooch with that, put that lovely piece on a lapel. Wow!

No problem converting it for the right bench with the right equipment. Add landing pads with a laser welder so it sits right, add a loop to hang it.

I'd suggest cutting off each of the 3 diamond set sections and laying them over a domed necklace to fix them in place from behind. The jeweler would have to determine the best way to attach them and to finish off the cut off ends of each piece so they don't poke you or look raw. It wouldn't be a big deal, but there is labor and experimenting involved. It might make you happy, or maybe not. It is difficult to determine without cutting the ring apart. I would not try to suspend them from a light chain with one or more bales. That won't look very good.

A good jeweler would be able to tell quickly what to suggest and how it can be done. You need to find just the right necklace that is wide enough, yet not overly large for the pieces.

Interesting thought about the necklace. I usually wear something along the lines of this. I would prefer that the setting be white gold or platinum, but I'm not gonna get up in arms right now on setting color
