Apparently the owner of Kay and Jared (same company - had no idea) is suing Zales over the "most brilliant" advertising campaign.

I don't expect this to lead to more stringent standards in the industry generally, but it should be an amusing case, especially for those of us who think little of the mall chains in general.

Not sure if this link is visible to the public or if my computer knows that I'm logged in via a cookie, but I hope it's the former:

I think this might get thrown out and if not, I doubt it'll go anywhere. The end result isn't going to raise the bar for well cut gems in mall stores although it might raise prices instead.

coming soon to a courtroom near you:
If you cant compete then sue!

pardon, but it's no secret that Kay & Jared are the same company..................
