I was trying to picture you in Michigan and I simply couldn''t, which is why I asked. You''re an urban gal. Hope the other interviews go well.

Thanks Kimi!

El, I just realized I didn't answer your questions. Do I want one more than the other... boy, that's a tough one! If the Michigan job were in downtown Chicago I would be ALL OVER IT. But it's not.

Of the ones at the major bank, one seems cool, but splitting my time between Chicago, Bangalor, Dublin and London might wear on me after a while. (Imagine all the frequently flyer points I'd accumulate though!) The other one at the bank is more of a traditional compliance manager job and seems like the kind of thing where I could easily keep at least some of my real estate business going on the side. And the option at the private equity firm might bore me after a while. You know--one of those positions where they put you in an office somewhere and come around once a quarter to see if you're still breathing. I need a bit more action than that!

But who knows--maybe none of these will pan out and I'll end up doing something else entirely.

Know anyone who wants to hire a diamond diva with a real estate and finance background?!? I could surely keep the books or something for Graff!

Summer? What is this word summer?

I can''t see you in Michigan at all! I hope you find something good that keeps you in the city!

El, I agree that it''s been *pleasant* but don''t you feel even a little gypped out of summer? I had quite a tan going in June and it''s so long gone I can''t even remember what it looked like.

OK, so here I am in Michigan spending the night in this tiny town before my final interview tomorrow and all I can say is, Toto, we ain''t in Kansas any more!!! Wow. Unless NOTHING else comes through I can''t imagine I will take this job. Not the that position isn''t a good one but right now I live literally seven blocks from the Sears Tower and this is just a leeeeetle too far out here! The good news is I was called by another internal recruiter from the major bank about a different position too so I''ll be interviewing for both of those later this week once I get back to civilization.
Oh, it sounds like it was TOO cool up there. No, down here was "picture perfect" weather, the VAST majority of this summer. Average temps in the mid to high 70''s-low 80''s, with no humidty. Unheard of, especially in Aug. I don''t ever remember having the windows open more than having the air on in the summer here. I could take this for the rest of my life.

And no, knowing you and where you''ve lived, I don''t think this Mich location is the right place for you.

i feel cheated out of summer too, although the weather has been wonderful, it''s not enough to swim in our non-heated pool. usually we are still in the 90''s/100''s right now with plenty of swim season left. but, ellen, I''m with you, if this is global warming, I''ll take it, and just get a pool heater

oh and ditto E, knowing you dee jay I don''t think you''d be happy with the MI job long term at all.
