Doesn't David Klass only do cast ?
I was having in mind only handforged. Inken is indeed from enhoerning-jewelry, but I don't know the name of the artisan.
From that list, who does handforged ? And also, when using this method as opposed to CAD/casting, how does the client see the evolution of the design ? Is it drawn by the artisan ?
Thank you
To date, Leon Mege, Steven Kirsch, Maytal Hannah, and Victor Canera are known for making completely hand forged jewelry.
Typically, with a hand forged piece, you do not see a rendering or drawing of the design or its progression. If you need a visual, then it would be best to go with a CAD designed cast piece.
I am guessing @lydial received a CAD from SK only because her ring was made using a combination of hand forging and casting (hand forged basket and caste shank).
When I contacted David Klass in the past he said he could make a completely hand forged piece. Perhaps a PSer who has worked with David Klass on a project can chime in on whether their jewelry has any hand forged elements.
Some other jewelers that were mentioned on PS at one time as being able to make hand forged pieces are Single Stone, Diamonds by Lauren, Mark Morrell, Erika Winters, Seven Fingers, McTeigue & McClelland, David Michael Jewels, Vram, Brilliantly Engaged, CvB Inspired Design, and Burdeen's Jewelry. You would have to confirm with each jeweler that they still make hand forged jewelry.
Correct: Steven hand forged the basket and attached it to a cast shankthe CAD was to visualize the design.
Thanks for replying! Were there structural reasons for going with a cast shank instead of all hand forged, or was it because since he already made a CAD to help you visualize the finished ring that you guys decided it'd be easier to cast the shank?
