I'm trying decide on an E-ring and boy am I getting confused. I originally was looking to put a 2.5 ct w-x radiant into a double halo with split shank like this one:

with this diamond:
http://rockdiamond.com/index.php/jewelry/loose-diamond-256ct-radiant-cut-w-x-natural-light-yellow-vs2-gia-lovely-color-r3969

Then I started questioning it because I know the GF wants it to look more like an e-ring and not class ring or costume like. I know she wants the diamond to sit up a little and I was afraid the radiant wouldn't do that.

Then I began looking at this cushion 2.45 ct in the same setting:

And then haha, I started to wonder if the double halo was just too much and would take away from the diamonds.

I was originally inspired by the tiffany soleste I saw in the store but the diamond was below a ct.

Any thoughts or guidance would be very helpful.

Thanks

the diamonds are beautiful - i prefer the radiant cut to the cushion. Radiant cuts look so beautiful on colored diamonds. I do think the double halo is going to overwhelm the stone - a single halo would be beautiful though.

The yellow diamond is the only thing I'm sure of.

I like the single halo better... after I had been wearing my ring for a while (I have a halo) and I would wear it with with two bands one on each side... sometimes it feels more like a cocktail ring than my wedding ring... so I started wearing just one band... most of the time... so if she wants it to look like an engagement ring you might want to consider a single halo... just my opinion....

I think either a cushion or radiant in a single halo would be perfect.

I find that e-rings are best in more simple designs but with a touch of something special and unique. For me, I went with an almost solitaire with a small split but it is still very simple. I think a double halo would be too much - a Harry Winston like halo would be much better for the long term.
