Halo question

ok, I''m a newbie & I tried to google "halo setting" & I didn''t get any info on it. What exactly is a halo setting?? Is it just a raised pave diamond setting around the center stone?? I think I''m a big fan of the halo, but I just want to be sure I know what I''m thinking is a "halo"!! thanks!
