Hello PSers ,

earlier this year I bought a round diamond pendant 1.14 ct ( I ,SI2, GIA ex ex vg ,med blue fluorescence ) :

I love the diamond ,but I want a more blingy look ,so I thought I would add a shared prong halo like this picture (I prefer prong set over bezel but I know most halos are bezel set ) :

https://www.pricescope.com/forum/download/file.php?id=271696

what is the best size for the halo diamonds ? should each be 0.5 or 0.10 ct or 0.15? compared to the center 1.14 ct diamond ? I want the halo to make the pendant look bigger and to show a ring of sparkly diamonds but not to overwhelm the center diamond .

any help would be appreciated .

Thanks .

Here is a picture of my halo pendant to give you some reference. The design is a little different than the one you've shown, but it gives you some idea on size. My center stone is one carat and the diamonds around it are about 10 pointers. The overall size of the piece is 11mm. It is pretty blingy and took me a while to get used to, but now I love it and it shows up on the neck much better than a plain solitaire. The diamonds are bead set with a bezel holding the overall pendant and the chain runs through holes in the top. I never have any flipping issues. Hope this helps.

Jeweln, I'd go with 7 or 8 pts, max 10. Any bigger and then the halo would overwhelm the centre diamond.

Sundial, I love your pendant. Do you have pics of the back? I have a Barbara pendant and love it but it sometimes tilts backwards, so am thinking of having a local jeweller fix the back for me but have no idea how to do it yet. TIA.

Phoenix here is a picture of the back. It is flat with bezel sides around the pendant and two holes in the top that the chain slides through. I had it made by my local jeweler.

And this one gives you some perspective on the size of the overall pendant. It is shown next to my 1.25 carat each diamond studs. I wouldn't recommend going any larger than 10 pointers and you may want to go smaller if you prefer a more delicate look.

I'd agree with Phoenix on this -- I'd go for 7-8 pointers. I think 10 pointers might overwhelm the center stone.

Thank you, Sundial. That's very helpful. I'll ask my local jeweller to see if they can do something similar.
