Has anyone experienced to fall off melee diamond from custom made halo setting from VC, SK , Design by Vatche?

I am going to wear my ring always. If it's happened(falling off) to you where do you fix it?

Good question. I would like to know as well as I would like VC to make my setting.

Always shouldn't include when you shower, garden, work out, or sleep with a pave halo.

If you have an issue with forgetting where you put it when you take it off buy a couple special containers (small ones) and put them around the house. I use small decorative milk glass bowls (4 of them), I have one next to the chaise I lay on in the living room, one in the bathroom, one in the kitchen and of jewelry roll in my nightstand. You can also loop it onto the chain of any necklace you are wearing to keep it safe.

I had a pave halo from Ocean Pearlman and it lost so many melee I stopped wearing it altogether and so I finally sent it to Steven Kirsch and had him redo it completely. I haven't had any issues since then AT ALL. Not one lost stone.

I had my melee replaced by Ocean. But after after it became clear that I was going to lose it regularly I had it repaired at the best place I know locally OR by BGD. BGD finally just broke the news to me that the pave was not safe, and that's what spurred me to contact Steven.

With ANY pave-- even the best pave, you WILL lose stones. I know that eventually something will come lose in my Steven. But I have my melee checked very regularly by a great local jeweler who knows to tell me immediately when something is lose. So I might be able to catch it before it falls out. And I would send it back to Steven to be done if it did fall out.

I DO have a very nice pave band I wear 24/7 it's a 2mm Scott Kay. It's got a very different type of pave than my halo. It's got 6 beads holding each stone. So it's very safe. Plus the stone's girdle's aren't exposed.

Also if you get brightcut, I think your pave is slightly safer than if you get a v-cut or u-cut style.

I agree with Gypsy. I have a pave band and although I haven't lost any, I'm not niave enough to believe that it will not happen at some point. For that reason I also have my pave checked regularly and don't sleep or shower, swim, garden etc. I think losing a melee is just nature of the beast when it comes to owning pave, regardless of the quality of the piece its more than likely going to happen at some point.

Could you tell/shoe pic of brightcut?

I am very bad in taking off and checking out , so i think it will be a problem for me. I have 3 stone ring for 10 years and almost NEVER take it off, checked only a couple times, it was no any problem with it.

Is anyone had this problem with Halo Design by Vatche?

Amazingly, my LM pave ring still has NOT had any melee falling out, after some 4 years and practically daily wear!! :appl: I'd better not jinx it though. Touch wood!!

My bracelet (bought from a local jeweller) has just had one melee falling out. They charged me abt USD15 to replace it. Is this usual? I mean it is their horrible craftmanship that caused this after all!!

15 dollars is fairly reasonable, I would check with another jeweler on what repairing some loose melee would cost. I bet its over 25 per stone, just a hunch but I bet it isnt cheap. How old is the braclet and how frequently is it worn? There's alot of factors that need to be considered.

Hmm...I wouldn't really get another jeweller to work on it. The bracelet is less than 1 year old and I do wear it daily. I guess I was just comparing it to my LM pave ring.

Ah well...

braclets have alot more contact with surfaces such as desks, keyboards, etc depending on what you do in a given days time. A pave ring sits on top of your finger and i dare say isnt exposed to as much contact.

VATCHE isn't immune. There is no magic brand for pave. You do have to get very great quality pave, but it's how you take care of it that matters.

Bright cut: http://www.artofplatinum.com/vault/halo-setting-engagement-rings MUCH SAFER Another: http://www.artofplatinum.com/vault/platinum-custom-rings

Cut down: http://www.artofplatinum.com/vault/round-diamond-halo-setting NOT AS SAFE v-cut,u-cut, fishtail all look similar this, and also are not as safe as brightcut

I have to agree that pave is absolutely not for 24/7 wear. You'd have to be super careful and that would even include when grasping things like door handles, the steering wheel, shopping carts, etc. Fine quality pave should hold up pretty well, but even the best will not hold up when worn inappropriately. Someone who wants to wear a ring 24/7 shouldn't consider pave, in my opinion (and I wouldn't even wear my plain solitaire like that because I want it to stay looking nice!).

O, when you wear your ring, for special occasion , or when go at work ?

I just don't wear mine unless I am going somewhere. I don't wear it when doing things around the house like cooking, laundry, etc. I don't do yard work, but if I did, I would not wear it doing that. I wouldn't wear it when working out. But sure, I'd wear it to work (assuming the job doesn't involve labor that would hurt the ring) and out shopping or to dinner, etc. I don't always wear my rings grocery shopping though, just because of loading heavy things into the car. I'll wear another ring when doing things like that.

My pave work is only on the top of my ring. I half a half eternity band and a plain shank halo. If you want it more wearable/durable I highly suggest a brightcut pave from someone like Steven or Victor and only half (or a little past 1/2 like 4 and 8 o'clock positions on the band) eternity.

But you have to realize that you have a responsibility to make sure the ring is kept in good condition. That means getting it checked regularly, cleaned and taking it off when you should.

I have a setting with a lot of pave, 3/4 around, on 3 sides and up around the main stone (but no halo). I have not lost a stone YET, but I NEVER wear it around the house. It has never seen sand, soil, the gym, cleaning fluids, or metal railings. I wear it when I go somewhere special or when I know I won't be doing anything much with my hands. Just the other day I wore it out to dinner and while opening a door I hooked it on the handle. Those sorts of accidents can ever so slightly bend the platinum and eventually lead to a weakened prong. I get my ring looked at regularly to keep an eye on any damage.

So just be aware that pave is prone to stone loss especially if you are active. I do love it, though!

Gypsy, would you please show pic of your ring as you have a plain shank halo. I think about that too, as it 's more safe. But I would like to see how it looks. Please look my another thread about "vote Halo setting".

Does your Halo has a a brightcut pave ?

Here is a link from LM's site on types of pave: http://artofplatinum.com/vault/pave-types
And a PS link with some examples: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/micro-pave-or-pave-for-a-halo-diamond-setting.160084/

My e-ring has a brightcut pave shank. It IS more durable than micropave, cutdown, etc, but still is not suited to all-the-time wear.

To steal the car metaphor that Gypsy often uses, buying a pave ring when you know you're going to wear it all the time is like buying a fancy sports car like a Porsche or a Ferrari when you're going to take it offroading. You CAN do it, sure, but it'll mean a lot of repairs, and, really, why do that when you could just get a four-wheel-drive Jeep (such as the style of ring you already have that seems suited to your wearing style)? Which is not to say that you'll definitely lose stones, but it's a much higher risk when you don't care for the ring properly.

Another thing to consider is that even if you don't lose stones, if you're wearing your ring all the time, you'll need to clean it much more frequently in order to keep the pave stones sparkly. Even with just wearing mine when I'm seeing people (to work and out with friends/family), I have to clean mine once or twice a week to keep it perfectly sparkly. If I do things like eat a hamburger, my ring is coated in grease and I have to go soak it right away or it just looks icky. I NEVER put on lotion over my ring, and if I have lotion on my hands, I just don't wear my ring until it's all soaked in. I have seen pave rings where people don't clean them as often and they're just not very sparkly and look weirdly hazy.

I'm not trying to dissuade you from a pave ring - they're beautiful! But if you get one, you'll need to adjust your ring-wearing and possibly ring-cleaning habits in order to keep it in the best condition.

Distract, thank you for explanation. Can you show your ring?

I don't have a halo, but my set has lots of bead-set tiny diamonds in it ... and, man, they must be built like tanks because I do ALL of the "don't dos" and MORE! I never take them off -- except my e-ring when I wash my hair in the shower. I sleep, cook, do yard work, laundry, housecleaning, weight-lifting ... all sorts of shudder-inducing shenanigans. And have never lost a diamond yet -- since 2005? (Knock wood! This is totally coming to bite me!)

I work at home most of the time so if I didn't wear it at home, I'd hardly ever wear them! Would NOT want to have something I couldn't wear & enjoy -- what's the point!? So if I had to baby something, I'd probably want to change it out to something more sturdy.

Ive always been told that the most damage os done sleeping....your rings get banged around without you knowing it, get caught on sheets, etc.
I used to wear my pieces all the time except in the shower/cooking. I take them off now unless I am going out cause I have lost stones in most of my rings that had smaller melee. ANd once I loose a stone, it bothers me to wear it.
