Hi All,

I had a question about Halo engagement rings and was hoping you all can give me some insight.
Our budget only allows for a .75 - .80 ct diamond. But I have heard that the halo makes the stone look bigger then it actually is, adn I agree that it does.

Would anyone know how big a round diamond, 0.75 ct and a .80ct would look like in a halo??? Would it appear to be more in the carat weight of 0.85ct?? 1 ct??

If anyone can give me some insite so I have a general idea that would be great And if there are any pics that show this, it is always appreciated

P.S. My ring size would be about 5 - 5.5

it will look huge... probably has the same size of like 1.5-2 cts. but it's not the same as looking like a 1.5-2 ct stone. it will look like (and be) a .7 stone with a halo.

It will definitely look bigger but how much depends on various factors such as the size of the diamonds which make up the halo etc.

In the pendant comparison, both stones are .75. The diameter of the .75 solitare is around 5.88mm. The diameter of the halo pendant is just below 9mm, which is about the same diameter as a 2.6-2.7ish stone.

Hi there,

I have a .82 stone in a halo and I''m a size 5.5. Here is my recent thread. This should give you an idea. The haloI chose is quite delicate and it only adds about 1.5~1.8 mm. Total circumference is about 7.5 ~ 8mm.

Lorelei - Thanks to you for the links to those pages, the visual was great .... even a bit surprising for some rings, the difference a halo made. I did look up halos, but wasn''t able to find such a comparison, so thanks for that too

Allison D and JulieN - I appreciate you telling me about the size .. in numbers lol .... it is abit hard to know what cts some are just from looking at pics.
