- who do you think is going to do the hallmark? (its usually done at the time the piece is made so I would think a jewelry maker would
be reluctant to do it at a later date)

Hi - you can definitely have a piece of jewelry hallmarked, engraved, etc after it is made, without damaging the item - retailers, labs, and jewelers do it all the time, and almost everyone uses lasers that wont harm the item (there are some exclusions to this) @tyty333 asked great questions - once you flesh out some details, a definite answer could be given
