Half Carat opinions

Hi everyone,

I posted a little over a month ago about a Lazare diamond I have on hold, and I'm only now making up my mind on what route I really want to go. I really like the half-bezel setting I stumbled upon at my hometown jeweler, which is similar to the Sholdt elle_chris wears (obviously much smaller!).

Here's my predicament: Spending $4k+ on a ring isn't a big deal to me, but she doesn't want anything extravagant and she has small hands which lend themselves to a small diamond. Cut trumps all to me, and since I'm going for a smaller stone I can push the color/clarity higher as well. The LK I have on hold is a D, SI1 (eye&mind clean) stone. Obviously cut is excellent all around, but it's also $3.5k for a .5ct stone... I've done some searching, and I need some advice on a few diamonds.

I keep coming back to this one, but I can't tell if I'm missing something major... 0.54ct, F, 59.9/56.7/33.9/40.8 (excellent all around). This seems to be the sweet spot in terms of my C's, and if I bought it I would be putting the money saved towards custom, matching, wedding bands. Can someone inform me why they would skip this for one of the following?

0.52ct, 62.1/55.9/34.6/40.9 D, VVS2, $2,350

0.507ct, 62/54.8/34.6/40.8 E, VVS1, $2,575

I feel like I've done my homework to know what I'm looking at/for, but I need some friendly folks to lend their opinions! Oh, and if elle_chris reads this, do you wear a wedding band with your Sholdt? I'd be interested in seeing options that aren't off-the-shelf chevrons for semi-bezels that might match the setting I'm leaning strongly towards

The one you like is a VS1, the other two are VVSs, hence the price difference (in large part).





You'd be eyeclean with an SI in this size range, so you've a perfectly safe choice. Nicely cut (hearts image is a bit off, probably they took the pic at a slight angle)

I like the F VS1. I personally don''t see a reason to go higher in either color or clarity because you won''t see the money spent. So unless you like *knowing* that you have a VVS or a D/E (which is fine if you do) then I don''t see the reason to go there.
