I just wanted to share my half-carat, heat only Burmese ruby. Its about 4.7mm. I love rubies. Sadly, a few years ago I lost a very pretty ring set with a ruby cut by Berry (the color was a darker than this one, though) and I hope that I'll be able to recreate that ring with this ruby.
Haha, yes, it is a Tiffany's bag! Thank you! I never really know where to take pictures..so I grabbed a book, the Tiffany's pouch, and a wallet. I love it! I hope I can find another one too. I bought another Burmese ruby from the same vendor for my mom too, that I had set immediately into a simple pave setting (she is not one to admire gems in a box), but I never ended up taking pictures of it.
Thank you Minou, Freke, ILander, JewelFreak and IoliteDreamer!
Minou and Jewel--Thank you both! I'm just about to put down a deposit with an Etsy vendor to create a "three stone" type look with the ruby as a center stone and two tiny little flowers set on either side. I hope that it comes out well! I'll post it as soon as I get it back.
ILander--thank you! I wish I could afford a huge one too. Its always on the back burner for me..if I could find one that's sizeable and pretty and within whatever discretionary funds I have at the moment, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.
Freke--Let me see if I can find an old photo. It was a dark ruby, but Barry's cutting really livened it up. It was my first CS ring since coming to PS, so I loved that thing even if it wasn't perfect.
