can anyone that has an H cushion send me a pic! I am looking at one from Mark at ERD and the picture he sent wasn''t promising...but I''ve heard that he has a great eye for cushions....
Mark''s pics just aren''t the greatest so I wouldn''t use that to judge. also, it really is impossible to guage color off your computer monitar. everyone''s settings are different so you just can''t really tell. Plus, the cut will come into play and since no two cushions are created equal a pic of another cushion really won''t help. I can say that during my cushion hunt, H was as low as I personally could go without seeing color in a cushion. I''d trust Mark though b/c he does know his cushions.
Well I wasn''t looking to gauge color so much but rather wanted to see pictures or hear from people that had an H and were happy with it and get some reassurance that way. particularly if they bought from mark under the same circumstances (bad picture).
No...mark sent it to me in an email but it was embedded in the email, not attached as a separate file. I consider myself pretty savy with that kind of stuff and have tried every which way to save it from Mark''s email. I asked him 2x for a jpeg of the picture and he said he would send it but hasn''t. that was last week.
he''s assured me its beautiful...no issues with it being an H, eye clean (SI1), etc. I''m sure its fine...and I trust Mark (sort of! LOL)....
my fiance''s stone is an H, with strong blue flour, from ERD. She''s had no color concerns... at least that she''s shared with me... and she''s a sharer.....
depending on the faceting, the cut quality, and the size, I think there is a good chance an H will be just fine.
Post the image.
If it is a crushed ice look then the H will face up lower, but if it is a brialliant style then it can face up OK.
Fluoro of course helps in all colors, and especially in whitening off white colors.
This slide shows what will happen if you cut the same piece of rough into 3 different cuts. This radiant has the crushed ice effect.
You can see though that the side pavilion graded color also changes.
It is complex.
My fiance''s stone is an H and she loves it! There are times when I can pick up trace amounts of color, but I would really have to look for it. I wouldn''t go any lower than H, but that''s just my opinion. Some people really like the warmer stones.
Garry - thanks for the chart - Mark selected a cushion brilliant for my ring so I think Im ok there.
Pauly - I am amazed at the amount of time and detail that went in to your fiance''s ring. Just gorgeous and one of a kind.
Anne_H - thanks for the post....LOVE your ring too!
OK...I''m feeling much better about the diamond. Thanks PSers!!!
Oh and Boston_Jeff - I am pretty sure I have searched for your post after reading about how gorgeous your ring was....but I''d love to see more pics, or the thread on PS would be great too!
Mark said I''d have renderings next week of the setting so I''ll be sure to post then.
GOG just did a video for me of a few cushions. The one with two diamonds side by side (third one down) is a G next to an H. Not that you can really tell from a video but I didn''t notice any difference.
1)Open the email page
2) hit the PrtScr button
3) Open Paint
4) Press Ctrl and the V key at the same time
5) Cut and edit the image to the required size
I also have an H colored cushion from Mark (2.17 ct. antique-style, 10 year anniversary ring) and I can see no difference between it and my original e-ring (E color). Mark has an amazing eye...trust him to pick out an amazing cushion for you. Good Luck and please post pictures!!
