I want to buy my wife a solitaire ring with a nice rock on it. My budget is around 4K. Which shape is nicer on a smaller carat weight ( .80 - .90 and has more brilliance? H & A Round or Princess cut? Will a G,H or I color be good enough?

Hi! I think the suggestion of watching some videos is excellent - it may help you narrow down the look you prefer.

Per carat weight, a princess is deeper than a round and will face up smaller than a well cut round of equivalent carat weight. The round will look larger. Princesses have many splintery facets, giving it a "slivered" look, whereas a round has facets that are larger than those of a princess. That said, a round will show more colored light return (fire) than a princess. Both can be bright white when cut quality is great, so as long as you pick an ideal cut you should be golden. Around here cut is king (and I mean the quality of light return, not the shape of the stone (princess vs round)).

What is your budget? That's where to start - not necessarily carat weight.

We can help you. :)

Sorry, new forum member....So I get a discount from Brian Gavin if I tell them I'm a Pricescope member?
My budget is around 4K for the ring. Is a round diamond more popular nowadays? It is going to be a surprise gift and I don't want to ask her which shape she prefers.

I THINK THIS SETTING IS SUCH A CLASSY LOOK THAT CAN BE DRESSED UP OR DOWN.

Hi, thanks for the recommendation but the 2nd link does not show the setting, would appreciate if you can post the link to the setting.

Yes, you do get a pricescope discount! I suggested a round after reading your previous post stating that she had sold her princess cut ring for a round. I'm just guessing that maybe she would prefer a round?
