Highly Recommended Jeweler – EngagementRingsDirect.com
I just wanted to share with the PriceScope faithful my experiences with a jeweler here in New York.
Anyone that is even thinking about buying an engagement ring should know about my fabulous experience with Mark Turnowski at engagementringsdirect.com . From start to finish, Mark was fabulous!
He made me feel comfortable from the start; he always listened and NEVER tried a hard sell. I truly believe he was more concerned with me making the right choices than trying to make a quick dollar.
I have been contemplating getting a ring for about a year, and in that time I would periodically visit PriceScope to get information and knowledge about diamonds and prices. A few weeks ago I posted a string on Pricescope asking questions about “J” colored diamonds and EGL vs. GIA. Mark was one of the many open and honest people who responded to me. From the feedback of him and others, I made the right choice for me.
Anyone that has looked at rings knows it can be jungle out there. From high-pressure sales people to dealing with people who are much more knowledgeable than you, it can be scary. After a few hours with Mark discussing options, he made me wish I found him months ago!
At our initial meeting, Mark pre-selected several princess cut stones (1.7 – 2.0 cts) in varying colors, clarities, and certifications (GIA vs. EGL). He took the time to point out the pros and the cons of the several stones, and to get my thoughts. What was supposed to be a 1-hour meeting, quickly turned to almost 3!
By the end of the day, I had made no definite choices, but I knew one stone had caught my eye. Without any promise to purchase, I asked Mark to put a stone aside for me, while I contemplated over the next few days. In those days I never got any pressured phone calls or emails to try and close the sale.
A few days later, I agreed to purchase the stone and needed to look for a setting. While at his office, we browsed through a few settings, but none were exactly what I was looking for. I scanned the Internet and found a photo of a setting that I wanted, I forwarded this picture to Mark and he told me he could build that very ring for me. He quoted me a price for the setting, but he understood that we were speaking of “18K white gold”, and I thought I had mentioned I wanted “platinum”. It seems like the price he initially quoted me was for white gold, and not platinum. With this misunderstanding, he could have easily come with a higher price due to the difference in metal prices, BUT instead, he honored his initial quote and swallowed the upcharge on the ring.
This act showed me that he was 100% concerned with making me happy.
After I sent him a deposit to get the ring started, we were supposed to keep in-touch to monitor the progress. I wanted a quick turnaround by May 14, 2004, in order to propose the next day, but since I was travelling and failed to check my email or messages, I failed to maintain good contact with Mark.
Knowing that I wanted to have this ring completed the same day; he took time out of his personal obligations and put a rush on the whole process. He ran around town making sure the ring was completed and ready for pickup by 5pm. I don’t know how many other people would have done this. He constantly went way beyond the expected to give me exactly what I needed.
Anyone that sees his work is astounded by its beauty. Anyone that is interested in great service and good prices should immediately make a trek to 5th Avenue in New York and see Mark. I’m sure your experience will be as great as mine!
