Gray FW necklace (18-20in) for $100?

Hi!

I've got about $100 in Christmas money, and I really want a decent quality silvery gray necklace. I tried this on at Helzeberg, and loved it, but I'd heard that Honora was poor quality so I didn't get it. Except the one in the photo seems much darker then my store one. FWIW, it looked fine to me. A few pinpricks here and there, but overall it was nice. Of course, I'm not sure what really nice pearls look like anyways.

I've looked at PP and TPO as they are recommended here, but nothing. Guess this is too downmarket for them.

Should I get the Honora or can you suggest somewhere else?

i will follow this thread with interest as i'm also looking for an inexpensive gray strand.

i'm looking for a longer strand, though.....i do like the 2nd e-bay strand and would take a chance on that if longer for myself.

I'm not a pearl expert, also just starting to get into pearls. Based on the pictures, Honora strand seems lifeless to me - there is no iridescence to those pearls. Second ebay strand looks pretty good IMO but I think the color would be similar to first darker picture than other lighter ones. And for $35, how can you go wrong?

Interesting that you both prefer the second one. I was *this close* to buying the first one when I found it. Especially as it is 20in. I think the second may be a bit darker than what I want.

Hi ribbit, I am no pearl expert either, but if you tried on the Honora necklace and "loved it" I think you should go for it. I agree with movie zombie that the second eBay necklace is pretty since you aren't looking for perfection. The shape of the pearls are lovely IMO. These are all real pearls and you will derive joy just from feeling the weight and warmth of real pearls against your skin. Whichever one you decide on will help you with your future pearl buying decisions, too! Let us know which one you decide on and post pics when you get it
