I am very interested in this setting - or one very similar (if you have other suggestions).

https://eshop.gabrielny.com/product/ER12308R6W44JJ

The pictures show that it will work with a straight band, but I would love to hear some real life experiences with tapered settings and straight bands. I have a 7 stone band that I would like to pair with it.

Also, does this appear to be set very high? My current setting is around 9mm off the finger and I would really like something lower. Maybe in the 6mm range.

Thanks for any insight!

The Gabriel band looks more intricate with the engraving, but it also looks taller to me. I think the JA is a really pretty ring and for some reason prefer it myself. Regarding your question of pairing a straight band, I definitely have seen this look and think it looks OK. But personally I am not sure I would like it for long. I think the different heights of the bands would bother me after a while. However, what are the alternatives really? A band that also goes up? Then the band would look odd if worn alone.

Thanks for your reply! Well, my band is 3.25mm off my finger now. So I feel it is on the taller side as far as bands go. I like the engraving of the Gabriel band but also worry about the height of the setting. It seems high? I do prefer the prongs of the Gabriel setting. I am going to try to find the setting locally to try on and see how I feel about it.

I tried on this tacori setting today. I ❤️ It. But it is out of budget. But I do think this look is nice with my 7 stone. That's with a 1 carat center stone. So mine would be a little larger.

So I am still exploring this option. The tacori pictured above is amazing. But it's also more than I would like to spend right now. I tried to hunt down the gabrielle setting linked above (as well as this one https://eshop.gabrielny.com/product/ER12326R6W44JJ) but I couldn't find either of them to try on.

This is the tacori reverse crescent. http://www.since1910.com/tacori-ht2510-channel-set-and-pave-diamond-engagement-ring

And without measurements of any of them, I don't know how they compare to the tacori I tried on. I am not well versed enough to see the subtle differences so I would appreciate any eagle eyes. Or if there are other options you can give, I would appreciate it!

There are a lot of those.

A) do you want the milgrain and engraving?
B) what is your budget?

I like fine milgrain and engraving. Everything I like in real life seems to have them both. I'd like to stay <$2500. But I can push to $3k if I LOVE it.

Thank you for all the suggestions. A couple of those I have browsed online, but a couple I haven't seen at all!

I also tried to find this one locally. It's on my pin board. I am worried about the height of it. And the price......

I've seen this setting locally and really liked it: https://www.mannsjewelers.com/item/engagement/792b9c3d108430f50c59d64a1393e900 it's by Sylvie
This is beautiful! But I worry this one may be too delicate. I want a setting with some presence. Dainty is really good for my size 7.5 finger.

I do kind of love this one! I wonder what size stone that is that it is shown with. I may email them and ask if they have hand shots of a 1.5 carat on the hand. I love the engraving on the prongs. The detail is really really beautiful.

http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/vintage/vintage-inspired-open-row-pave-diamond-engagement-ring-item-49486 They can hand engrave this for you.
That James Allen one is on my pin board too. They have one that is milgrained and engraved, but the head is different. I contacted them for measurements, but I am not sure how it will look proportionately to my diamond. Do you think it will be smaller than the Tacori? Or about the same?
