Hello Pricescopers!,

First of all, thanks for your help.

I just got the ring today and I have some doubts. I went with a 5.37mmx5.42mm stone, .59 ct. The ring does have some shine and brilliance even under normal lighting. Im confused on what to compare it to. Yes, it is a small ring, but it is the biggest stone I could get with a small budget. When I go to walmart even, it seems that their stones have so much fire, perhaps lighting in the jewelry showcase? So my question is, how do I re create that effect to atleast compare the stone I bought? The stone appears colorless even though it is a G color. And it is eye clean from the top, although when I hold the ring upside down, I can see 1 small inclusion, is that normal for a VS2? Well, perhaps my expectation were bigger than my budget... but all in all I think I recieved a really nice stone. I just wish I could compare it to something.

Yes. Store lighting often makes diamonds blaze and look absolutely spectacular, yet when you get them in plain daylight they look somewhat different. This has often happened to me too.

What I would suggest is this also, I looked back to try to see the details on the stone you bought but couldn't find them, can you post all the info you have on it so we can evaluate it for you please? This will give us a better idea.

This is what I would do. Make sure the stone is absolutely clean, then take it out to places where you have seen diamonds really sparkle and although you won't be able to put yours into a showcase, you can still get a better idea in some stores if you take your diamond for a test drive.

Also take the stone outside, if you have a tree with sunlight filtering through the leaves sit under it and view the stone. Take it to as many different places as you can to get a feel for the personality and behaviour of your diamond. You could if you have a Jareds closeby also compare it to their AGS0 Peerless brand, this might be helpful.

As to the inclusion, sometimes you can see them from the sides or underneath even in VS2, if this bothers you then change the stone, if not then its nothing to worry about.

Ditto Lorelei... but PLEASE have a little case or box to keep it in during these excursions if it is loose! I would hate for it to drop in the grass and get lost
