Did any of you know that in certain places the Google maps street view also has a walking tour of historic and popular tourist spots? Maybe all of you did and I am just behind the times. I just spent quite awhile touring Stirling Castle in Scotland. Did someone have to walk around with the spinning camera on their head like the Google car? Pretty cool to be able to see in this way. I spend quite a bit of time on Google Earth even now after retiring.

To get the walking tours to come up you have to grab the little yellow guy and hover over the location you are looking at to see if the blue lines pop up. There are also blue dots that indicate a single 360 degree picture at that location.

How cool is that?! Is there sound too on the tours (e.g., narration or anything like that)?

No sound unfortunately. But it is still cool to be at ground level to see these locations. It doesn't appear that the tours include interiors of the spots.

Edit - If a yellow dot comes up over a building location it seems that means there is an interior pic.

Hello Redwood66, I'm Glasgow :wavey:, hope you are enjoying the Scottish sunshine today.

Well hello @Tartansparkles! I love your countryside and hope to travel there one day. :wavey:

LOL, I misread your post, I thought you were at the castle today doing the walking tour  Mind you, that is a great way to visit and I should probably make the effort to do so myself one day  .

 I was there in spirit.

Didn't know about this; you're savvier than me! Thanks for sharing.

My DD loves to do this...She "walks" around and gets to see what other parts of the world look like. Its a great tool. They also have some
islands where you can "swim" around under water and see the coral and beautiful fish.

I dont think she has ever been in a castle. I'll have to mention that to her to see if she can find it!
