I apologize for the cheesy thread title, but I''m excited to hear your opinions. My fiance has had his heart set on getting me an oval for quite a while. However, at the time of our engagement, we decided to go for a Marquise instead (link to my original e-ring herehttps://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-marquise-solitaire-e-ring.85529/) Since then we''ve found an oval that we liked to use as my wedding ring, we''re both excited. I love the look of fancy cut stones that have a sort of oblong shape, so I''m quite pleased with both stones. The specs for the new oval are, briefly, 1.66cts, I color, VS2 clarity. I''m lucky to be getting two lovely rings in less than a years time!

My fiance currently has the oval stone and I am wearing the Marquise, (he lives in Atlanta, and I in Dallas) so I''m constantly asking him to show me the stone over our webcams, it always brings a smile to my face because I know its what we always wanted! Next time I''m in Atlanta, I''ll be certain to post some pictures of the stone for you all.

Well, down to the good stuff. We''ve narrowed it down to two settings (although, ladies, I am totally up for others if you''ve got some lovely ones to share with me!) The first is my fiance''s favorite. He absolutely loves the look of rose gold/pink diamonds against my skin tone (I''m of Southeast Asian descent). We tried on a Simon G setting and wanted to reproduce it with our oval.

Setting two is my new favorite (thanks to Kaleigh!) I love the oval with half moon side stones, but perhaps with a pave around it.

What do you ladies think? We would make some changes to both pieces, a smaller, more subtle pave (micro?), not such a high setting/profile on piece 2 and no baguettes on that second ring either, My fiance loves when things are symbolic (I''ll put up his wedding band soon, its lovely and with so much meaning) so I imagine he will add other special touches.

Anxiously awaiting your opinions and new suggestions!

Those are both gorgeous! I think I'm more of a fan of the first one, especially if it goes with your skin tone: something about that look is very cohesive, very elegant, to me.

But, for something totally different ... have you seen MaeVona settings? Very sleek, very modern, very cool. The Stronsay set has the same blend of rose and white gold, though a different feel to it - more organic. I'd post a pic, but they have one of those irritating modern websites that won't allow for saving.*

*They kind of make up for it with their addictive background music.

Oooh! Oval''s are one of my favorite cuts!!! If I had it all to do over again, I would probably choose an oval. I don''t think this setting is one you can just buy, but if you are looking for a custom job, this is a fantastic option that has the pave around the oval. I would like it a little more if it didnt have the pink diamonds and gold around the main oval, but it is a fantastic desingn. Just thought I would share it!

Circe! Hello dear! Those MaeVona rings are unlike anything I''ve ever seen. I can see why you''re fascinated by them. I''ll go ahead and post a pic from the site (actually still have the music still playing in the background, ha!) I wonder if I''d tire from the rose after a while, after all, this is a ring I will wear for a while... We discussed rhodium''ing over the rose gold if I ever desired it, but the stones would be pink diamonds and that would be considerably harder to change.

Kbarro-I didn''t warm up to the oval until I tried a few on. I''m sure my fiance''s admiration helped convince me also. Thats a pretty setting. Do you have any other views?

And ring two with the half moons and pave:
Wow, that is gorgeous. How lucky to have 2 diamonds.

I love Kaleigh''s! It is so classy and elegant. A timeless beauty!

It is also top on my want list!

This is similiar to the one you posted but with a pink oval stone.

Hey, you have tech skills! Awesome. Yes, that's exactly the one I was thinking of - modern and funky, but still v. elegant. Though, one thing that I really like about that first set is that you could have a lot of flexibility regarding the w-band ... possibly you could also have a platinum band of the same diameter made up for days when you want less bling (or, a plain diamond one for when you want the bling, but not the color saturation)?

P.S. - Hey, are you thinking of a N-S orientation, or E-W?

I unfortunately do not have more views of this setting. It is a ring that is on a local jewelers website here in Baton Rouge, La, and they only have this one picture of it. I just think it is gorgeous! I would love to have something like this and can''t wait to see what you decide on!

I love the second one! Who designed it? It is so classic and elegant. But the Simon G is awesome too!

The Simon G is so beautiful it takes my breath away. For real. I plan to get that maybe for an anniversary down the road. I love love love it.

Thank you all for your help, sometimes I am delightfully overwhelmed with the response on this forum. So great to have found you all!

JustMe-Thank you for that pic, it reminds of the one Kbarro posted. Both are so lovely, but I think they may be not be classic enough for my e-ring..

Circe-I don''t like the way the e-w setting looks on my fingers. I like the fancy cuts set n-s because they have a way of elongating your fingers and making them look particularly elegant. And thanks for complimenting my tech skills, glad to know I''m fooling someone!

NEUpgrade-(Great name, btw!!) The stone is designed by Robert Pelliccia for a Florida based jeweler named JR Dunn. I love their rings, lots of designers and their settings are classy and elegant. You should check out their Calla Lily collection, very unique http://store.jrdunn.com/

Marcy-Thank you, were calling my marquise the "pregnancy" ring, to wear when my fingers get swollen!!

Vslover-I like the Simon G too, and I can see why my FI is crazy about it. But it seems like you''re considering it for RHR, which it is probably more appropriate for, no?

cwj-I am soooooooooo in love with Kaleigh''s setting, I think I''m obsessed. I am going to post a whole bunch of ovals with half moons because right now I''m just preoccupied with! (Last night, believe it or not, I dreamt of an Asscher with half moons-sweet, sweet dreams!)

Let''s start with Kaleighs oval on her finger!!

Here''s another I found on ebay, gives you some views, and has a thicker band.

Here''s one with a halo around the oval-interesting.

This one is so pretty and delicate-looks like one big stone. I think the center is about 1.5 on this one, with .5 total on the moons.

I already have a bunch of RHRs so no, it''d be something I''d wear on my left hand as an alternative wedding set. :-)

That is exactly why I love Kaleigh''s ring!! My second choice would be the one you found with the halo, it is also beautiful. I think if you like these two all you need to do is decide which look you like best. Kaleighs looks a little more delicate to me, but the halo adds some really nice bling!! Can''t go wrong with either.
Another thought, I dont think Kaleighs will ever look outdated, while I love halos, they might come and go. If so I''m sure it will be a long time from now, but its a thought.

Thanks, SHC! I have seen Robert Pelliccia''s stuff before. It is awesome. How will you ever choose which setting to get?!?
