Nora Ephron died today.

When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle are two of my go-to comfort movies. She had such a remarkable way with words. And she's a Wellesley sister! I'm very sad.

Oh, what a loss!

When Harry Met Sally is like a best friend to me. I fell asleep to that movie every single night of undergrad, and many years beyond. I'm so sad.

Rest in peace, Nora Ephron. Thank you for bringing some of my favorite movies into the world.

When I first saw the title of your thread, I went to check. Rumors of her death had been premature all day and, I thought, the eulogizing done all day before her passing was in bad taste. Then I saw that the rumor was true this time and that she had truly passed away at last. I join you in your sorrow. I, also, loved her wit.

I particularly enjoyed, I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman.

Such a loss. :((

My teenage daughter and I love to get a take out lunch and watch You've Got Mail together for girl time. So sad.

I JUST watched this two days ago!

My old copy of When Harry Met Sally is the only VHS tape I EVER wore out from overuse.

I loved her, and will miss her.

She also wrote I 'Remember Nothing, a book that was great for me, since I (weirdly) don't remember events either. I was very comforted, since it's unnerving that my DH has so many more memories than I do.

Loved Julie & Julia.

She was a great lady.

I love watching her movies. I watch them over and over again and never get tired of 'em.

:(sad

My husband and and I were actually watching You've Got Mail last night from our dvr when I finally read the news for the day and saw that she passed. Weird.

"The New York Times" currently has some some great photographs of Ms. Ephron (and some shots from sets of her films as well) available on-line. I remember her first as the wife of Carl Bernstein, when he was the only one of the pair whom I knew! That was when he had gained a degree of fame/notoriety by writing about the Watergate scandal with Bob Woodward in, "The Washington Post" in the early 1970's. Little did I know that she would ever become a household word on her own!

One of the pictures in the collection above shows a young Nora Ephron and Carl Bernstein dining at Tavern on the Green in Central Park.

Sad, sad, sad.

I'm in a funk about it, actually.

She was . . . incomparable.

She is . . . irreplaceable.

My film buddy, Holly.... I think one of the things we bonded over was our love of classic films like, "The Women" with Norma Shearer! That and very old church music and crosses by Jude Frances and Lucie Campbell. Otherwise we'd still just be a Liberal and a Conservative!

Hugs,
