thanks in advance for any feedback.

I am looking at the following stone. I've seen it, and while it wasn't technically eye-clean, I didn't notice the inclusion until I found it under the 10X loup. Even then, it wasn't on the table, but on the crown and I could only see it under close examination at about 3-4 inches. Based on the cut advisor rating of 2.9 I'm kind of disposed against it, but I don't want to automatically base my evaluation on an online calcualtor. My feeling is that the deficiencies in cut could allow for a larger stone with a nice spread in a great color. I'd be interested in people's comments on the specs, though -- especially what's off about the stone and the effect it would have on the appearance to an untrained eye (what I like to call the "wow factor"). Since I'm new at this my comparison is limited to the 10 or so stones I've looked at in my current search.

Note that after reviewing a few stones I came to the conclusion that, for me, color is more inportant than clarity. I was originally looking for an H at a higher clarity grade, but the E below is what caught my eye, even at an SI2.
Price: $13, 500
Diam. 8.06 mm
Col: E
Clar: SI2
Weight: 1.91
Depth:58.4
Table:59
Pol: VG
Symetry: VG
Crown: 30.9 %
Pavil: 40.2 %
Girdle: Sl. Thick
Culet: 0.7 %

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

I like you agree that color is more important that clarity. Every time my girlfriend sees a d,e, f color she freaks out!! H and I colors just don''t look as brilliant. Color is also important if you plan on setting it on a white gold or platinum setting.

As for the price, it sounds reasonable but I think there still might be a bit of wiggle room to lower it.

Hope it works out!

Thanks for the feedback...

Actually, I am planning on a platinum setting, so you''re right on the mark there...

Re: wiggle room on price -- good advice -- thanks...

I''d definitely pick color over clarity, but the cut is the most important. The HCA is a good tool to use, test the other stones you are looking at to see what they score. The sparkle is what is going to get noticed the most. So a great color grade is kind of a waste if it isn''t going to sparkle like crazy.
