Whoa mama! The setting looks exactly like the Stuller one which runs about $1100! This means they only want $1800 for a 1.45 ct. stone That's insane! How can they sell it so cheap??

I do believe that you would see those inclusions with the naked eye, but it's a pretty nice setting and if you can live with the inclusions, it might be worth looking at, especially with a 30 day return period.

Before you make plans to sell in the future---You need to know that you are not going to get anywhere NEAR what you paid for it if you resell. We are telling you to sink the majority of your budget NOW into the best and biggest you can get stonewise now and buy from a vendor like GOG or similar with a good upgrade policy. Then you can trade that stone in later to the same vendor for minimal loss (the setting at most) and get a larger/better one AND hopefully then afford the setting of your dreams as well.

We know you love that setting, but it might not be realistic or financially prudent to sink the majority of your whole ring budget into that setting right now, and then get a stone that isnt permanent, since that setting might be scrapped later when you upgrade--you might not be able to reuse it when you upgrade the stone. Settings like that are built to a specific stone size. You're not going to get anything for the setting when you upgrade, the jeweler isn't going to take that, they may if anything scrap it.

Thanks for letting me know I was thinking we'd resell it for a good price then put that money on a Tiffany RBR down the road.

I think this sounds like a good option since you can later trade it up for a larger stone. And then you could have someone like Steven Kirsch make you a great setting like the ribbon ring custom! But GOG definitely has Stuller, I am sure. So all you have to do is go down in diamond size if you really want to get a ribbon setting now.

The ebay seller with the Tiffany Ribbon ring is willing to sell setting alone. I honestly would just find a cheaper version of the setting you love versus buying another look. Settings no matter what doesn't resell for much in my opinion.

My honey did buy Fortekitty's lovely stone ( I stole a peek when it came ) but when we talked about the setting, his thinking was that I would end up being disappointed with the Stuller setting because it's too close to the Tiffany but still falls so short. So he was thinking that the Gabriel would be a better choice because it's not "trying" to be a Tiffany RB Ribbon (does that make sense?). The last thing he said was that he was going to talk to some local jewelers to see what they might have I'm starting to just want the Stuller. I think it would be so pretty with the diamond he got from FK. We only paid $850 for the stone so I thought we wouldn't be that much over if there was a possibility of getting the setting we wanted plus a gigantic center stone that's nice

The more I think about the stone we got though, the more I feel she was meant for me

I never regret getting the setting I want because in my mind it makes the ring. I can have a beautiful diamond but if I don't like the setting ... I don't like the overall ring.

Well, that stone will make a lovely pendant even if you ever get another diamond for your ring! So it can be put to good use whether you use it for the ring now or not! I would never buy a real Tiffany ribbon ring unless you find one second hand due to their rings being so overpriced.

I asked the ebay person how much just for the setting - they said custom made for $774 to fit stone and size. I assume this is wg but I didn't ask more yet.

Wow! That's $300 cheaper than GOG and it looks like the same setting. It'd be great to save more money but I don't want to get scammed. Any suggestions?

Honestly, I'd just set the diamond from FK into the cheapest solitaire setting you can find to use for an initial engagement ring and save for a real Tiffany ribbon ring. Here is one in excellent condition from a usual Tiffany seller on ebay:
