I have a diamond from a jeweler without certification. He provided me with an appraisal sheet which listed himself as a GIA graduate. The total ring price is $7,000. Does this seem like a good deal based on the appraisal? I''m concerned about the quality, in certain light at certain angles, I can see several small "clouds" in the stone.

- princess cut platinum ring
- center diamond general gemological estimate
- carat 1.74
- color H
- clarity SI2
- cut princess polish good symmetry very good
- table 76% depth 71% girdle thin to slightly thick culet (?) none
- 2 sidesonte princess H / VSI equal 80points
- dimensions... 6.19mm wide 6.89mm long 4.7mm deep

I know it''s hard to tell without seeing it, but suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Sost,

Please have this diamond inspected
by an independent appraiser like the,
Rock doc, and others on the pricescope
appraisers list just to be safe.

A low clarity grade in princess cuts can be
of concern if one of these incusions
are located near the points of the diamond.

Take every precaution to ensure your purchase
by having your stone checked out by an expert.

Thanks for the advice. I went to a local gemologist, he said the stone was probably closer to an I1 than a SI2 but could go either way... also is was between an H and I. So now the price tag seems ok, where before it seemed good. sounds like i should look again??
