Hi all,

After extensive research (thanks for all of the helpful posts!) I've settled on the following for my girlfriend's engagement ring. She's given me a lot of input, so I'm confident she'll like it, but I thought I'd run it pass you experts to see what you think. Is it a good purchase? It's right in my budget (~$3200)

Center stone:

Thoughts?

This is gonna be a GORGEOUS ring, tenuto!! :cheeky: :appl: The trellis 3-stone is one of my faves from BG!! Can't wait to see the finished product -- don't forget to post pics!

Are you kidding? Fantastic diamonds (all three) and classy setting.

It's going to be spectacular!!!

Job well done!... :appl:

Very nice! The only thing I would add is this - have BG take a pic of all 3 stones lined up in order so you can see the size difference between them and make sure you like the proportions. Some people like the side stones bigger, some smaller - I prefer them smaller, as it makes the center stone "pop" more to my eye.

Thanks for the help! I have asked BG to provide a "line-up" of the three diamonds to get an idea of the proportions. I'll post the photo when it comes in.

One question - has anyone had problems with J colored diamonds being overly yellow? I've looked at a lot of photos, and I don't think it would be a problem, but I'd hate to get a "lemon" in the bunch, if you know what I mean.

have you seen one IRL?

I have, and so has my fiance-to-be and she thinks they're great. I guess I was wondering how much of a variance there is among J's...is the EGL-certed J that I looked at IRL be representative of most J colored diamonds?

If anything, that EGL certed J is a "lemon", so if you were fine with that, you'll be happy with an AGS J color, which should be at least one shade whiter.

Especially with a well cut stone, you won't notice from the top. It might have a little tinge from the side if you put it up against white paper, but that's it.

All right! It's in the shop and I should have it in a week or so...I'll make sure to post pictures when it arrives! :P

It's arriving tomorrow! :appl: Here are the early pics.

Beautiful and classic ring!!! Please post hand shots after you propose :))

Beautiful! She's going to love it! :appl:

Fantastic!!! I'd be proud and giddy to wear that ring!

This is absolutely gorgeous, and I can't wait to see the end result when you get it! I'm also waiting on my BGD J color solitaire, and a couple of years down the road we hope to turn it into a 3-stone trellis.
