Hey everyone I am new here and looking at ordering this diamond from www.bluenile.com tomorrow. I am going to be setting it in an A. Jaffe ring that I am also ordering tomorrow.

Could you please take a look at the diamond specs and also the GIA report of the inclusions to make me feel good about my purchase.

My main concern is regarding the flourescence, I hear medium blue is fine since the "milkyness" is only seen in strong blue. In addition is there an issue with the location of the feather and natural that I need to worry about?

I think you can do better, this might be a very nice " make " of diamond, but it is not an Ideal Cut. No worries with the fluorescence, the natural is no problem - just a little original " skin" of the diamond and the feather is probably ok, but an expert eye might be prudent. The huge table isn''t necessarily a big deal, it could still be a lovely diamond, if the HCA results are accurate it might not perform well but if the data used was the GIA rounded off crown and pavillion angles, it is anyone''s guess...At the end of it all, if you want to order this diamond and are satisfied you have done your homework and this one " sings" to you - then fine! Specs and numbers are quickly forgotten once a diamond is treasured and worn with pride - that is what it is all about! Best of luck!

JulieN that was the exact diamond I was looking at. Can you tell me what you mean by "ice skating rink" table. I assume it means large and flat. What is the negative issues resulting from a ice rink table?

Julie,

What about the ring being a J color? I thought a J color without medium blue flourescence might be a little to yellow looking. WHat are your thoughts on a J color?

Depth: 60.9 %

Table: 61 %

Crown Angle: 34.5°

Crown Height: 13.5 %

Pavilion Angle: 41.4°

Pavilion Depth: 44 %

Star length: 55 %

Lower Half: 80 %

Girdle: Thin to Medium

Culet: None

More important than the table, the pavilion angle (41.4) is too deep. 41.2, I don''t suggest; 41.1, is ok-ish, 41 is borderline. The max table for AGS0 is 57.5. I don''t like a large table because it reduces the potential for fire and it gives off more glare.

As to Js, you should check out the "Js in platinum" thread, or something like that in Show Me the Ring. Mara has something like a 2.3 ct "J SI1" something thread over there. I''ve yet to see a J in person, so I confess I cannot tell you how I feel about them. However, there are MANY PSers who have Js and are happy (and there are some who decided they would rather go with higher color.) In pictures, these stones look amazingly white! However, I am not quite convinced, myself. I''ll have to see the beast before I quite make up my mind. Color is not graded face-up, and the face-up color is quite different from the body of the stone. Remember that once it is set and on your hand, it will look whiter than against white diamond paper.

Julie,

What do you think about this diamond? Price = $6415. It is much closer to the stats you like however the angle is still a little steep at 41.2. The inclusions are shown directly on a post below.
